Does this mirror work over this bed

This is the spare that is never used, however I still want it to look nice.

Too high and too small. If you love it though, how about trying it above the headboard and to the right of the lamp; not too high. My DIL did that and hers looks great.

I put it in the center of the headboard. Wouldn't it look weird off centered?

It is too high and IMO you don’t need anything on that space

A common mistake is putting a mirror in a spot where it reflects nothing. It's a nice mirror but it's too high and too small and yes, it reflects nothing. Find a new spot for the mirror. Don't necessarily need something over the bed. Invest in draperies instead to soften things up and added a little color and interest to the room.

I agree. It is a beautiful mirror and should be seen close up - used well. This is not happening above the headboard. Also, a round mirror in a bedroom is perfect for it brings partners back to one another again and again.

Feng Shui experts warn about mirror placement and what the mirror reflects; they also warn about hanging anything above a bed. It is believed anything hanging above, while one is sleeping, contributes to uneasiness even if the person isn't consciously aware of it.

It's a lovely mirror, but doesn't look right over the bed. Can you put it on another wall in there

There are often great reasons to place something on the wall behind the bed. However, this mirror would serve you better in another place in the room.

The purpose of a mirror is 1) to reflect one's image, 2) to make a room APPEAR larger, or 3) to REFLECT light into or around a room. Your bed has a headboard and doesn't need anything above it, but this mirror is in the wrong place for purpose 1) and too small for purposes 2) and 3). Were you looking for something similar to the mercury glass table lamp? The mirror does seem to work with that. I'm not saying the mirror is wrong; I'm saying it isn't really necessary.

The design flaw I see is the denim blue bench at the foot of your bed. Everything else is grey/taupe; perhaps the overhead lighting has affected the colors in your photo. The bench jumps out as the only color in your picture of your room. The window could also use something to make it more interesting.

The comments above are great, and they give me a great idea. I will post more uses of a mirror as we use them in Feng Shui.

I think the blue bench at the end of the bed is fine. Balanced with similar blues in the art you place above the bed and the potential window treatments.

the mirror may have a home on the wall to the left side of the bed, possible a center to an arrangement of vertically placed family pictures on either side.

I would shift the mirror to another location and use art over the wall. See more here: http://www.houzz.com/viewCollection/3947/312315

Thanks for your input! The lighting may not show the bedding properly, it is navy and grey with a light blue. I know this picture is to high, but something like this? Or just have nothing above the bed?

And we just built the house and haven't gotten to paint the trim or install window treatments yet. Maybe once curtains are up it will look different.

The photo below is master. I will be switching the mirror out.

I'm not disturbed by the mirror, but I would lower it so it 'reads' with the headboard. I would reinforce the blue by adding some drapery panels.

I think the wall over the bed without anything is very quiet and restful.

Don't obsess over adding something over the bed. If the headboard is high and/or interesting enough that should do it. Not every wall needs to be filled.

Thank you. I will be finding a new place for the mirror.

Super super cute mirror. But I do have to agree with some of the comments. Can you put it some where else in the room?

I would put the mirror right behind the lamp near the side table,
The flowers would reflect off it and look really pretty, also if you had another it would look great on the other side of the bed in same position with side table

Yes, that's a good idea Bacci; however, I have issues with symmetry and I bought the mirror from Home Goods and they don't have anymore like it. ☹️

Kathryn Metz I took the mirror down and placed it on the opposite wall. Great nights sleeps. Where do you recommend bed placement goes in relation to the doorway?

Looks so much better - I guess you exchanged it also. Lovely room.

If possible, a bed should not be in line with the main door to the room. Yet, in your room, it looks like the only place for it to be. It should also not be on the same wall as the door. If this is the case, then you can use a mirror to see who is coming in the door by placing the mirror on the wall opposite the bed. You want to be in command of the room - able to see who is entering, but not in line with the door.

Secure and restful sleep is usually attained when you have "command of the room," as K Metz said. Placing the bed on the wall opposite the entry is often the best location for being able to survey the doorway from the bed. Only recently have mirrors become bedroom decor. Formerly, they were strictly for function and were usually attached to a dresser and were for "dressing." Now, we can use them to reflect a view or to serve as "security cameras" for viewing the door from the bed. Take the weekend to play with furniture placement and then tweak the mirror for your own need.

Katherine, you are right. This is the only wall for the bed...Unless I put it in front of the window and then it's opposite the door. I should have consulted w a feng shui specialist before I built.

One of the command positions in this room may place your bed against the bathroom wall. Then, we have to be sure it is not backed up to the toilet or any other plumbing tied into the sewer. Lots to think about when placing a bed. We also have to consider what is above and below the bed. If you have any trouble with your kidneys or liver, sleeping in front of a window is not a good choice, especially this large window. And, your headboard would block too much of the window, symbolic of your eyes. Do you have any problems on the right side of your body in the upper torso or head? We can work with that easily if it is the case.

The bed won't fit on the opposite wall bc I have a bathroom door and closet door. The bed would be adjacent to the shower wall. Plus, if I moved it there, no room for nightstands. I woke up with morning w shoulder and neck pain on my right side.
