hello there...nice kitchen ! while I don't have a response to your query, I just wanted to check with you about the dimensions for your island kitchen. my kitchen is identical to yours, including the island. I was curious to know what the dimensions of your island are.

Not sure if I like any of you samples, sorry to seem rude, here are some pics of your countertop with different backsplashes, your cabinets look quite cream, perhaps the first two may look better, the 3rd pic is lovely also

Change the wall colour or the cabinet colour - or both. As it is, the cabinets look dirty. Once your figured out those colours you can make a more informed decision about the backsplash. Simplicity works best. You might even consider using mirror.

I would love to know what you decided on, or see an updated picture. We are doing the same granite, with cream cabinets, and really struggling on deciding what to do for the backsplash...

I think if you could change the cabinets to a light gray colour it all will fall into place . None of the back splash choices are complementary to the rest of the kitchen . I know your kitchen is brand new but the cabinets , paint etc. are close but not quite there. If not gray you could do a grayish white as well.

I still haven't decided. This is another option

Looks like that would go with the counter but not the cabinet, I would go with brown

I was having the same issue. I went with a marble looking subway tile and I'm not too happy with the outcome. I'm hoping to get some balance when I paint the walls.

@bigev I actually really like what you have done, but that may be because I am partial to gray...and looking to bring gray in. Thanks for sharing!!!

Do you mind if I ask where you got the subway tile?

I like your last choice best. I looked thru photos seeing if there was a tile with gray, cream and white and that seems very close. Maybe the grout can help as well as the wall color. A gray wall may tie in the gray and contrast with cabinets.

I'm actually embarrassed to say but I bought the subway tile from Home Depot. I'm going to get a color fan from Benjamin Moore. A gray just may work.

I would first choose cabinet and wall colors that complement the counters, then decide on a backsplash. The wood island, wood floor, cream cabinetry and white walls are clashing and I think that's why your back splashes aren't looking quite right. Choose a lower cabinetry color that looks nice with your counters- a medium grey might look nice- and I'd paint the uppers the same color as the wall.

It doesnt look bad @bigev238. Changing cabinets isnt an option for me, I have to live with what we choose. I must find a backsplash that will marry the cabinets and island.

@bigev238 can you post a closer photo of the cabinets and backsplash

Hi Armine, we went through the same issue, matching warmer cabinets with cooler granite. For the backsplash, we picked out a dark color from the granite so it would compliment the counters, and used a matte finish to compliment the cabinets. I will post pictures tonight :)

I might be way off when I say this but it wouldn't hurt to get a sample...... I'm thinking a subtle mint green glass tile can tie things up for you. I'm sure accessories would be needed but a splash of that type of color could possibly do it.

Ah, looks like I'm a little too late. Either way, heres the photo.

I think I've made a decision. Please say it looks good

Looks good! Hope you are loving your kitchen.

I'm doing this now! Any chance you'd be willing to upload a pic of your kitchen, @Armine??

@Armine thanks for posting this. We are doing the same thing with Bianco Antico. You are right, this is a tough one. All the high end kitchens are shown with mint glass or white subway and that seems kind of boring. We like the little hexagons and were looking at that one as well and thought your post was funny that you were looking at the same exact tile. But that is now discontinued at Lowes and their manufacturer. Still deciding...
