Mushcreek, sorry for your loss.
Stringweaver, your weaving impresses me quite a bit. Quite a talent.
Nothing on my goal list, except that yesterday I brought the old seat cushions in. I need the wood base to make the new ones.
The sink for the kitchen arrived today and was put in the garage.
And, the flooring also arrived. That was quite a thing. The guy had a heck of a time getting the first pallet off the truck. I told him I should have youtubed the whole event, it was such an ordeal. Did, eventually, get the pallets off safely, but then couldn't get them into the garage. He left them in the driveway. The kid and I have been slowly moving them into garage, a box at a time. 17 rolls of underlayment and 55 boxes of hardwood done. 22 boxes of hardwood to go.

"think about if you want the plug for a bedside lamp tied to switch by the door."
I have that and love it. I have an outlet connected to a light switch in the LR and all the bedrooms.

Stringweaver, your organizers look great and a perfect fit under the table. I'm trying to imagine how someone would shave a cat and come out alive.

I've been here over 7 years and still don't know which switches go to which outlets.

"I thought of it, because I don't have it and wish I did."
lol! it's very handy to have.
not much happening here. just me straggling around doing not much of anything. Seem to be under the weather. tho, our weather is rather warm for March...
I did manage to go to the store today and get a few things. a slice of pizza, 2 nancy's quiche. haven't been able to find them in the store for a very long time. I looked today, and there they were! had 1 for dinner.
other than that and taking the dog out nothing is done. I did do dishes yesterday after turning the pump on. the toilet seemed to be still running so I shut off its valve. and the sink faucet doesn't seem to work. it's always something! I think something got pushed thru the line when the water came back on and is blocking the faucet screen. If there is one...
I hope things are better tomorrow!

Welcome Wendy! Wow, the pallets of flooring sound pretty daunting; glad you and the kiddos could get them into the garage! I think it's amazing you're setting goals besides living through the remodel, haha! Double kudos to you!!
THANK YOU to all of you for the advice on electrical upgrades! I really appreciate it! I do have a long, narrow hallway with a switch at only one end. I definitely want one at the other end. Another thing I'm getting, because it's not expensive when they're re-doing everything anyway, is whole house surge protection. Basically, it turns every outlet in your house into a surge protector, so you don't have to use separate surge protector cords for your electronics. And I appreciate the advice about not having outlets low to the ground! Bending down is not my thing, haha! Steph, thanks--I'll have plenty of USB outlets; between Joy and I, we have a LOT of electronics! Thanks for thinking of that!
Steph, how is your water situation? It sounds really frustrating!
I cleaned the kitchen today, over the objections of my friend, lol. I just couldn't take it any more. :-)

Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. Dang life is getting in the way. And painting guest bath and today laundry room.I am finished painting in the laundry room but not finished doing the tile base. I have had enough for today and still need to do dishes and shower ETC.
I did manage, Feb Goal, to get those pictures in the under the bed suitcase into the trunk with ease. So now I have an empty under the bed suitcase. That is fine I am sure I will find some thing to go into it. It is nice to have ALL framed pictures in one place to pick and choose from. When I get the hallway mosaic wall done I probably will then hang the photos back. I just do not want them in the way right now. Took all down when I was painting.
Right now I am running by the seat of my pants as far as goals. I WILL get the laundry room and guest bath done in the next couple of days if all goes well. As far as other goals just putting this house back together is priority. The kitchen is trashed with the laundry room unloaded into it.
The little bistro table for the dinning room ended up in the master bedroom. I decided it was not a good fit for the couch area. Perfect for my chair in the bedroom. I have already used it back there. Also holds a couple more plants in a good plant window. Always looking for a place to put plants. I will now have a nice place to drink coffee in peace when we have company staying. I can hide out in the bedroom until I wake up enough to face company. I know I am so bad. OH well. Heck I can even plug in my small percolator in the master bath so no one even has to know I am awake.

Little trunk is where kitties come in and go out the pet door in the window.Guess I better finish my evening chores.

Debbie - I'm with on Wendy. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't survive a major kitchen redo. I'm 99% sure. better to live with ugly cabinets.
yw for the input on wiring. living in a MH and knowing what I don't have and wish I did, I thought I'd pass it on. and the light switch tied into the outlet I do have here and really like. I have 3 or 4 usb ports on my cpu and a few short cords that plug into a reg outlet and then you can plug a cell phone into them but if I were rewiring, I'd just have them on a couple of outlets that are about counter height. i don't have a great need for it tho. i have a counter height outlet by my table (away from the counter area) and one in my bedroom and i love them.
the water - it's on - sort of! I still have the one toilet water line off (I can turn it on and off) and the sink faucet is spastic and sparse with water - but i can wash my hands and face... I can live with it till Jed comes back. i am hoping he can fix the faucet - I'm not ready to put out $s for a new bathroom faucet right now! every day this wk I've checked the outside 'leak spot' he fixed and see no sign of even a drip. So he'll probably fill that hole in next time here.
I'm glad you survived cleaning the kitchen - are you coming here next ?
Chris--great to hear from you! It sounds like life is busy as ever out your way. Is Joe feeling better?
I absolutely LOVE the bistro table/chair setup in your room! Right by the window! I too cannot face humans until I've had my morning coffee. Joy has been so sweet to bring me coffee and a bowl of cereal every morning back here in our temporary quarters while we're sharing the house with my friend and her DH. It sounds like you've gotten a lot accomplished! Congrats on finishing the under the bed suitcase project! Can't wait to see the wall mosaic!
Steph, I do truly appreciate the advice, and now I know to ask for the lamp thing in the bedroom! I just figure since I have no choice but to re-wire the entire house, I should get it the way I want it now, because it's surely never happening again! I'm happy you have at least some of the water back on! Sounds like Jed did his usual great work on that leak! Water/moisture is the #1 enemy of mobile homes! I can remember it was an offense deserving of the death penalty in my parent's house if we didn't run the fan while showering, and now I'm terrified of what I'll find in my bathroom here when I take it apart because the fan's not been operational for a couple of years.
While I'd love to pop over and do some cleaning at your place, I'd probably better hit the hay. ;-) Just remembered I've got to "spring forward" tonight, and church in the morning!
Have a great day! :-)

Debbie - keep a list of all the things you want included. i keep lists and lose them. if i keep the list in a notebook i lose that - or can't read my own handwriting!
do check out bathroom fans on the BF. They most often recommended Panasonic i think. that was a few yrs back. with a timer on it. If you're going to totally redo the bathroom, you'll get any mold or other ick out then. it won't be easy to stay there with the bathroom torn up.

Shades, how did you put pet door in a window?
Deb, good job getting the kitchen straightened up.
I don't think that fan rule is for MH alone. Our bath fan never worked right and the ceiling is a mess. We put in a pretty powerful fan and it is still an issue. Probably the venting.
I haven't gotten anything done. The GD has been visiting for the last week or so. So, I have more messes than I began with. Did get the kitchen somewhat straight.
Morning folks. I finished my laundry room painting and tile base. I still need to do the tile base in the guest bath. I worked on laundry room until 9:30 last night. Had several interruptions mostly my poor body giving me grief. It just ticks me off some thing so simple as painting beats me up so much. I have never had my knees hurt before but last night if I had to squat down one more time I think I would have fallen. The sun is out this morning and loving the color peeking through the kitchen to laundry room door.
The same color would look good in the kitchen too. NOT going to paint the kitchen now. It has already been painted TWICE since we have been here. Had a total brain fart on the first painting job. OH well.
The pet door for my window is one like this one. I think this is for a larger window. Our window is 30 inches. We have two tsll narrow ones side by side. I put a stop at the top of the open window to keep it from opening further. I had just a regular kitty door mounted on wood at first and decided to keep an eye out for one like this on ebay I could afford. WORKED and this has been a really good choice for us. IT is a simple install. Just put it in the opening and the ends are spring loaded to make it fit tight. I also added some weather stripping on top and bottom. Kitties love it and never a problem for them to use it.
Last night I had to get in the middle of the night for some aspirin. I looked out front window while walking by and out out door flood light was on. So in the storm I went out to turn it off. Well that would not work. I flipped the breaker to it. Thankfully it was not on same breaker as freezer. This morning Joe took it apart and it had filled with water and the water bridged and kept the light on or broke the switch I am not at all electrical minded. He is working in it now. HA car went by at 2AM and I am bet they were wondering what I was doing out there in the storm in my nightgown at the spot light. Well this town already thinks I am cray cray so let the tongues wag now.
Clean up mess day today from all that was left undone and putting all painting materials away. finally the whole inside of this house has been painted all by my little old self. Feeling accomplished. I still have no other March projects planned right now. I think I need to chill for a little bit.

Original Author10 years agoshades, congratulations on the laundry room work.
I did more work organizing the loft this weekend, rearranged and found a place to put a 9 foot long narrow shelf...much needed horizontal space. I have the specs and design worked out to build clear acrylic fronted/wood boxes to mount at the back of the treads of the loft ladder. Now to find someone with power tools and patience to guide me through using them.
With that under my belt, if I haven't outworn my welcome with the power tools, I may take on my sewing machine closet and my version of the suitcase storage shelf that Shades posted somewhere on Smaller Homes recently.
I started filling out the application for selling socks, dyed yarn and handwovens at the gardener's market this summer, which reminded me, I have to start production. I dug out my vintage flatbed knitting machine and finally got it working and have been knitting plain rectangles on it. This weekend, if the forecast holds, I'll dye them and some skeins in the carport. The rectangles will then be unraveled and reknit on the sock machine...a way, I hope, to get some striping and color graded yarns. I'm spending more time weaving tea towels than on the curtains and coverlet which are for me. I need to inventory what socks I have on hand and get some more sober men's socks and start on children's sizes. The market opens in May, so I have some time to do this. I'll try doing the market once a month.
I love this new winding space. Temporary storage for yarns in use, and a lot more breathing room for the sock knitting machine (in the foreground).

I can't remember if I posted this, here is the sample for my bedroom curtains.

Stringweaver, that fabric is gorgeous.

Stringweaver I LOVE viewing your working space and your curtains are Gorgeous!!! WOW. I did spend a little bit of time in my studio cleaning up. I am out of glue so any mosaic projects are on hold until we get back to town.
We did go to Weiser this afternoon but we were taking one kitty to the vet. We did not want to stress her further hauling her around shopping. We used to have a kitty that traveled with us. NOT the one we took today. She was not very happy with her car ride.
I finally finished the base boards in both bathrooms last night at 10PM. I am so tired I am not feeling like doing much today. Made big progress on clearing away the paint mess. Tomorrow I plan on doing a good house clean and then feel I will be able to give myself permission to start another project. Not sure what that might be. YET.
Hubby is still doing better which is wonderful. Was great news to know there is no spread to his brain and his issues appear to be from an impacted ear. It has been almost a week since he has been sick this go round.

Original Author10 years agoShades, terrific news!
I'm very happy with the fabric, it's as light and supple as I hoped and I love the little flower insets. It will do a great job at billowing and scaring the dog on breezy summer nights. Hopefully even this summer!
And it all goes down hill fast. Sigh. Hubby so sick right now. Darn and he is not even on chemo. :'(

Stringweaver, your curtains are beautiful!
Shades, I'm sorry your husband isn't feeling better. I hope they can clear it up quickly.

stringweaver - your curtain fabric is beautiful! I love it.
shades - sorry to hear Joe is sick again. hopefully it's just a touch of the flu.
you've done a ton of work lately, you need a break from it all. put your feet up and watch a movie or read a book!
I do love your kitty window. that's gotta be super handy! I wish I could do something like that for my girl. I hate it when she wants to go out at 3 am... it's a long walk to her 'business place'.

my tv pic died so I've listened to tv for 2 days. missed Rizzoli and aisles the other night - well, I listened to it. today I decided to try to pull the old one back in here - and I did (pretending I was shades!). I more pushed/slid it in from over by the patio door. probably a good 20'. I had to move some things from behind the dead tv and vac up the dog hair back there (I swear she should be bald by now) and move that one back to make room for the old one. it's just sitting on the floor in front of the dead (newer) one. but, I have a pic now! After I redid the hook ups and just got snow... then called directv to have someone tell me how to get rid of the snow and get a pic. about 45 min later I had a pic! I need to type up notes on that in case I ever have to do it again.
this old tv I bought about 5 yrs ago used (2nd hand store local) for 10.00. I'd had Jed switch it with one my sister sent me because I thought hers had stereo (better to hear it with) and I didn't think the old one did. Her tv only lasted a few months and this very, very old one is still working.
but then I was exhausted. I had to get down on the floor to see the words over the buttons on it and I couldn't get low enough with a decent eye angle to read them. there I was with a magnifying glass and a flashlight... when Jed comes by I'll have him put it up on the little cab the other one is on. and trash that one - however one does that but he'll know.
then like I hadn't suffered enough, I put 3 chilies in the oven to roast. then I chopped up onion and mushrooms to put in an omelet - an 8 egg one. part of that was dinner, part in fridge for brunch tomorrow and 2 parts in freezer for another 2 brunches.
if I survive til tomorrow i'll turn water back on and do dishes and mop up the kitchen floor (then turn it off again).

Hubby has had two good days in a row now. We are trying different things to keep the dizzy slowed down. One sadly is no more leaning back in his recliner. This ear vertigo thing is positional. So far this has helped. But what a total bummer for him to not be able to lean back.
I am working in putting a bi-fold china cabinet together. VIA our Moccasinlanding inspiration. It is a bit more difficult that I imagined. I think I am finally ready to start putting it together. The last days prior to this have been prep work. Pulling the louvers out of four of the doors so light will get inside the cabinet. Course right now it will be in a corner so only one side will get light but the light colored wall will also show through the glass. The way I move things around it could be any where in this house in my life time. I picked up the glass for the doors and shelves. I do not have a table saw so it was best to get the wide shelves cut. I only have a small skill saw to use.
This will ROCK your worlds I am using this as an inspiration photo to do in our dinning room. I am not going quite as dark. I am mixing in my love of light and color in MY space. Sooooooooooo The china cabinet will be white on the inside and Wild Iris on the outside with turquoise accents probably in glass. There is nothing far enough along yet to photo. I died a load of rugs and doilies purple. Painted a table top wild iris.I have pretty shawls I never use to sew into pillow covers. Even though this is on an outside patio mine will be inside.
Edit to add photo DOH And Hahahaha I am sure you all are gasping. Do you think I should cross post to the decorating board???? They would hang me. Ask me if I care.

Original Author10 years agoShades, I love it!
I'm having a dyeing day here, trying some new techniques. And now I want to see if I canget anything like your photo. I am confined to yellow, turquoise, red and black, and mixtures of the same. I'm not sure I can get that bright pink, but i'm going to try for green and purple with splashes of yellow.- 10 years ago
I love it!!!! I love bohemian rooms. i hope you share pics.
I wish I could have color like that, but i need soothing boho. If there is such a thing. Like Zen Boho, lol.
OHHH Wendy I have lots of them already. Just not in this photo yet. I can see 6 of them right now one os 4 foot tall one three foot tall. This house is full of plants. I just have them moved out of my working area right now . Really hoping to put that cabinet together today. Once it is together I can paint the outside. THEN get the other china cabinet moved to the back bathroom or guest room. I am not sure which.

Is your patio set one of the original of that style? I always liked those. This is the set I'm making the new seats for. (Not that I am actually getting that done.) First pic is found condition (hard to see, i know), second refinished. You can see the deck paint change I'm also working on.

shades - your sofa and table look great! some green in there too will really make a difference. love the color on the table - what is it?
wendy - great chair! and your deck is looking good also.
you all are doing so much! I did dishes yesterday - and just made coffee - not as energetic as you all!
Debbie your Chair is Gorgeous. Love the seat cushion color too. so much work to bring it back to what you have done. If you were asking about our patio set it is about 22 years old. The expanded metal top and spring chairs. Very comfortable but it does need some thing done to it. It was originally powder coated.
Steph the color on the table is just the craft paint from walmart called Wild Orchid.
Well DOH on me. I did not figure the top and bottom of the cabinet board size right so I need to add in a piece I will have to custom cut it. Not a big deal. Just feeling very dumb about now. I do not have the paint for it either so painting will have to wait. I think I have a board I can cut down to fit though.
The dinning room is a great room for plants so I will bring them in when I get to that point. They really were always here I just had to move things out to work. That cabinet is covering dinning room floor AND spread to the living room. Hubby is not happy with me but I just keep my head down butt up and keep going ignoring the grumbles. I REALLY do need to get it together though and out of the way. Real trip factor right now. I just had to rest and have some more coffee.
I am still plugging along on this cabinet. I am FOR SURE NO Jay. Fortunately it is small so will only be a small disaster in the corner of the room. LOL. Again waiting on paint to try. Came upon some issues I needed to deal with before the final put together. Hubby has a headache today so no hammering. That puts a crimp in my style. I am also running out of paint. I will use the last of the paint I have to paint the side that goes against the wall so if I do get to put it together I will have sides that still need a second coat exposed to me. I have done a few photos. Will post them in the reveal.
Guess I get to sew on the pillow covers now.
I really like those older mesh patio sets. I noticed last year or the year before that they had started remaking them. But, they weren't as nice as the originals.
I can so see your place filled with houseplants. I love them but am better with outdoor plants.
Can't wait to see the cabinet and pillow covers.
Been trying to get stuff straightened up for kitchen window install tomorrow.
REALLY hoping today I can take some reveal photos. This has turned out to be a much bigger project than I ever dreamed. LOL I even lost another 1 1/2 pound working on this while stuffing my face. Just starving. The china cabinet is in place and attached to the wall at the top just for safety. It is very tall. With the added bottom it turned out to be 83 inches tall and just too tall so I took the bottom toe kick boards off. It looks much better just flat on the floor. I have to trim 1/8 inch off the top wood shelf. It is just a wee bit too tight. I still need to finish gluing the glass globs around the glass windows to hide the slots where the louvers used to fit in. AND I need to haul half the garage back out of here to the garage. Not to mention clean up the mess and a little bit of touch up painting. This little project has changed the master bath, guest room dinning room and hallway. I am loving it.
Hope every one is having a good week. I have just been flat out busy.
stringweaver thanked Shades_of_idaho - 10 years ago
Yay! Can't wait to see it.
Clean-up is the worst. :-/
I think most tall cabinets come with thing-a-ma-bobs to attach to the wall these days. Good thinking on your part. Our library cabinet came with brackets. But since we were using it as a TV cabinet, we just attached the TV through the back of the cabinet to the wall. That thing isn't going anywhere. Except.....we do have to move it to fix the flooring, gah!
- 10 years agolast modified: 10 years ago
OH Wendy I will also have to undo this if I decide to move this and I doubt I will be doing that. And OK ML I can just see you snickering on that comment cause you know me pretty well.
I am not done with the glass globs trim but running out of glass globs. I bought bags and bags of them. So here is what it is for now. Just the dinning room part because a lot of that clean up needed to be done is behind me in the kitchen. LOL YES it is the worst to deal with especially when I am so tired. I really wanted to catch a bit of the sun that comes in the room so hurried. We are getting one of those sun storm kind of days. I will add more pictures later after I finish cleaning up.

Not sure if I can say Nailed IT but I gave it a good try. I also need to have lots of light and bright in my spaces. Hoping the dark does not over shadow the lightness of the room. Some day I will do a pretty mosaic on the closed back of that coffee table. There is a shelf on the other side. When I sit on the couch I usually put my feet up on that shelf. LOL
Plants were mentioned and when I do the other pictures I think the kitchen plants will show up as enough, I can see two big ones in the kitchen and another large Hoya through the laundry room door. AND if I ever need to set up a dinning room table I have a long fold out one like a long narrow card table that I usually use for sewing that will work as a dinning room table for 4 and the couch will be seating on the one side. The couch seat is tall enough.
Right now I would love to just curl up in that sun on the couch with my kindle and read for awhile but the mess awaits me.
Shades, it turned out great. I don't think the dark is a problem at all. I think it balances the space with the other darks, but without closing it off. You did good!
HA I finished two projects I did not have on March but they have been waiting a long time to get done. Well one has. The other Moccasinlanding told me about while I was building the china cabinet.
First I bought two surge protectors yesterday and mounted one to the table leg of the little half round table in the dinning room across from my couch There are built in shelves directly under the table top so I slipped my recipe computer and extra computer on one of the shelves on top of each other.
So now the computer cords are plugged in under the table and not at the end of the peninsula sticking out in the way. Cords are bundled and not on the floor so it is easier to clean under the table.
The second project was to create a charging station in the china cabinet. I managed as ML suggested to snake the USB cords out through the louver on the back side and down on the inside to the top shelf behind the door. Then I mounted the Surge protector to the back edge of the cabinet behind the curtain and plugged everything in. The extra cords are loosely in behind the cabinet out of sight and not a trip factor.
Photo of the table lamp for my newly done dinning room couch area. using another of the died doilies.

oh shades - the shade is beautiful! you could sell those!
good idea on the cords and charging space! I need to get a new surge protector for my computer. mine is old and I'm beginning to doubt it...
Thanks Steph and Wendy. Well I did crochet the long doily years ago when my hands still worked. Then it was one of the pieces that went into the die load. I did not have plans for it at the time. I was thinking more pillow cover addition.
The shade attaches to the lamp on the usual harp. I just wrapped the doily around the shade overlapping in the back then pinned it top and bottom at the join and around each top cross bar as close to the outer edge of the frame as possible. I used a candle shaped bulb. I could have used an LED if I still had one left. Might switch that. Of course this is not the shape shade this lamp came with. It was more of a drum shape. I have a collection of shades in the loft to choose from. I had to add a washer to the top of this shade because it is a screw on with the big hole. Where there is a will there is a way. LOL

Checking my March list I did pretty well this month.
the incomplete:weave the golf towels...I got them on the loom this weekend, so they are at least started.
I haven't been coloring wall paper, need to get back to that.
I hope to book my flight this week...still working on getting my dates off pinned down. The reunion dates are good, I'm hoping to get another four or five days to visit a friend near there.
Garden prep...I haven't decided yet whether to have veg or flowers or weeds this year and there was only a day or two suitable for working anyway, so that's April's decision.

Thanks for the offer stringweaver. I don't use window décor. But, they are gorgeous. Reminds me of some jewelry I was interested in, but never found, a rag choker.

Well I am still working on the dinning room look. Loved what I did but not happy with the rug that was there. Love the rug but the green is not right. So now it is becoming purple. It is a slow process. I bought dye to try on it but the fabric is not accepting the dye so next was paint. It is slow going but I will get it done. It is/was a cheap area rug so if it is awful in the end no big deal. Here is one little corner I have done so far. It is hard on my body sitting on the floor. Then keeping the dogs and cats out of it. HA and ME out if it=why my slipper is upside down.

We are having winds the last few days and it is too miserable to work in the yard.
Although, I did not get a lot of what I wanted to get done, I feel like I had a pretty productive month. I've been going through the house here and there and eliminating clutter. Also getting a tiny bit more organized, but not as productive in that area.
Kitchen-wise.....windows and sink plumbing done.
stringweaver
Original Author10 years agoPainting a rug! You are so inspiring. That would never occur to me. Are you using fabric paints?
It looks much better in purple I think.
Stringweaver I am using craft paint. I might consider a sealer after I get it done. I did not get to work on it yesterday I am headed off in another direction and also running out of paint so this will be ongoing for awhile I am afraid. I am almost half way done. Going a bit faster as I quit being so anal with the tiny brush. I think it is going to be great when it is done and YES the purple is so much better than the green.
