Personally I like carpet in bedrooms and wood everywhere else. I know wood in the kitchen can be problematic but it is popular.

White kitchen cabinetry never goes out of style, in my opinion, as long as the cabinet design is fairly simple, clean lines. We recently remodeled a 3 bedroom/2 bath patio home for sale. We installed tile throughout, with the exception of 2 bedrooms which were carpet. If we had gone with wood floors, it would have been the same concept. In other words, especially with a smaller home (condo), it is important to make it appear visually larger by keeping the flooring all the same throughout. However on a practical note, most people like carpet in the bedrooms, but for a WOW factor, take the wood flooring throughout the entire condo (with the exception of the bathroom - could be wood flooring but tile is much more practical.) We have wood flooring in our kitchen and with a little care, it looks terrific.
