Dryer venting from the bottom?

Are there electric dryers that vent from underneath the dryer? Or when they say "bottom venting" is it just a kit that still originates from the backside of the dryer then points down? Would love to save space in my walk-through laundry entry from garage, and the vent is in the floor. Sears guy wasn't helpful.

There are definitely electric dryers that vent out the bottom. Some require a kit. The tricky part will be aligning the vent in the bottom of the unit with the existing opening in your floor (as the post above notes, the vent itself can't run under the unit). If the holes align, you can just vent straight down. Check out this vent kit from Whirlpool (it lists which models are compatible).

I really don't know yet - I was hoping to find one at Sears to see where it actually vents, but the salesperson wasn't even aware of a unit that did that. Honestly I'm open to suggestions that I could investigate further to see if the venting would line up with the existing hole in the floor. Right now, the unit I have has venting straight out from the back, then it arcs down to go through the floor.

I am not aware of a setup like that, how would you connect the duct without crushing it? The solution is to install a dryer box in the stud bay so the dryer will push all the way back, this tends to be complicated in a renovation as typically there are utilities in the way.

My Bosch dryer vents out the bottom,it' 10 yrs. old. No problems, clean vent pipe every three yrs.. just me and wife.

Hi @HU-310896853 Can you please provide the model number of the Bosch dryer that you have? We have a similar issue, where our dryer vent is at the bottom and we really need to save as much space as possible.
