No. It was at customer's house in Delray Beach. I haven't been there in years. If you have a Jatropha shrub that you want to grow as a tree, post some pictures and I'll be happy to give you some trimming advice.

Jerzeegirl, there are two kinds of Jatropha -- tree form and shrub form. The best way to get the tree-form one is to find one and get cuttings. They root very easily. The bad part about trying to train a Jatropha shrub into a tree is all the side and bottom shoots you will get. Also, Jatropha is very cold sensitive. My Jatropha tree in 9b/10a did really well until we had a freeze, then it died down to the ground. It will come back up from the roots, but you have to then train it, because it comes up shrubby. Still, I miss my Jatropha. It was the only thing that bloomed all year long.

I don't really mind the shrubbiness since it a very neat plant (unlike
my renegade bougainvilleas which I have had to prune hard yet again because
they refuse to look the way I want them to, lol).

There is a lot of new growth on the jatropha. I hate to prune it now but I have a feeling it might be the right time to do it.

That's a tree-form. They have different leaves. The bush form has the lobed leaves and the tree form has the non-lobed leaves, although they do shoot out lobed leaves sometimes. You take a whole limb of that and stick it in the ground and it will root.

Bougies are never going to do what you want them to. You're fighting a losing battle.
