This damage - is cosmetic - but it is not going to go away. Sun burned the leaves - they are not going turn back to green. You are stuck with these edges until plant will grow out of them... in a year. The plant shouldn't be sitting exposed to the direct sunlight in a middle of the day - early morning and evening are OK.

The idea of watering -- is to keep it consistently moist - not wet and not dry. Doesn't matter if you water in a saucer or in a pot - just do not let it sit in water - splash leftovers out of the saucer in 15 min. Your room is humid, so you probably do not need to water it too often. (60% ??? You are getting moldy yourself!) Perfect for plants though.

While you're at it, check with your water supplier to see if they use Chloramine.

If so, your tap water may eventually kill your plant. You would be wise, in this case, to water your plant with grocery purchased Spring Water instead.

So my plant isn't about to die??? Thank goodness!!!

Okay, so I'll leave it in a shadier spot (and wait a year for its appearance to improve).

Apparently my water does contain Chloramine, so I'll have to look into alternative sources.

And yes, my room is pretty humid. I'm not sure why... I live in an apartment above a store, not somewhere I'd expect a lot of water.

Looks like a combination of sun burn and chloramine damage. Chlormine damage will cause the leaves to die, but only the outer ones. They turn a dark color from the outside that spreads and the leaf wilts. If that happens, trim off the darkened portions. Many people don't know about chloramine, unfortunately, because most houseplants can tolerate it. Joanne
