Beautiful room. I love the FP. Choose the area rug first. Pull the sectional away from the walls about 6 inches for room for the drapes. ideas:

Paint the wall vent behind the right bookshelf to match your walls. Dress the bookshelves sparsely with colorful larger items.

Love the rug choice Sandra! That would be my pick as well!

i was thinking more neutral tones. the couch is grey--on the pictures it looks purple, same with the pillows.

Ok I see what you mean! What about something like this? http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/easy-shag-sg18/white/200OZSG18A-106014.html

I would not choose a geometric as it is too trendy. Picking a classic Ikat, oriental or persian is always good taste.

What a fabulous fireplace! I think Sandra's on the right track with her suggestions. The ikat rug has geometric elements that softly echo but don't compete with the almost art deco lines of the fireplace. This is a room that should be luxurious, and the ombre silk curtains are perfect.

Don't accessorize the fireplace, btw...it stands alone!

Those suggestions are orange colored tones tho....? Won't that not work?

I would move those bookshelves they detract from your very great distinctive FP

I would do more of a subtle rug and get some pillows in ikat or something fun.

The fireplace is fabulous. Those bookcases have to go. I'm sorry. They look like the kind of metal shelves you put in the garage.

I LOVE the shelves, but I would paint the vent. Pull the sectional AT LEAST a foot away from the Windows if at all possible. Keep the rug understated in color...rich in texture. Flokati or shag. Accessorize shelves with white/cream/antique gold tones only...large & few.

Arc lamp in back of corner of sectional. Woven wood shades under pewter gray silk draperies.

Very large windows and/or patio doors: vertical wood blinds.

Can you guys send over some suggestions for curtains/rugs? Thanks!
