Flush inset cabinet cost

I'm getting ready to try to work with a kitchen designer. I want painted not-custom flush-inset cabinets with things like trash pull-out, cutlery insert, tray separator, all drawer bases, etc.

My budget will allow no more than $450/linear foot (or ~$100/square foot face). Is this a reasonable goal, or am I setting myself up for a rude surprise?

I've already had one super-rude surprise from my designer and a custom shop ($875/lf before painting) and I don't want another.

See if you have a Showplace Wood Products or Shiloh dealer in your area. They are both very reasonable for inset.

Off the top of my head: count the number of cabinets you will need and multiply by $500-$1000. Tall cabinets, count 2x (maybe 3). That should get you a good ballpark without accessories, moldings, modifications, painted:specialty finishes and decorative ends.

For instance, if you have 10 basic cabinets, it should be somewhere between $5000 to $10,000 plus 10-20% for paint. Then add in some or accessories, moldings and decorative add ons.

Above estimate by TKP is consistent with what my Shiloh painted inset cabs cost; all drawer bases except for trash pull-out.

Shiloh has no uncharge for full inset, and no uncharge for paint. With full inset, the box automatically defaults to a full plywood box at no uncharge. Lots of value with this company.

For my latest kitchen remodel, now being planned, I'm intercomparing Shiloh, Showplace, and Starmark. They are all very comparable and all do inset beautifully and reasonably.

I think that Shiloh also automatically goes to 13" depth for upper cabs with inset. You're probably going to want that, so it's something to ask about when you're talking to various companies.

Despite some GW posts to the contrary, I found my Shiloh upper cabs to actually be deeper than my sisters (unknown brand) non-inset cabs.
