4 AV babies. Any chance to reviving? Advice needed.

I have 4 AV babies that were given to me by a friend. Since I obtained them 6 months ago, their condition has deteriorated.

I was keeping them inside but recently repotted them to an even perlite, vermiculite, peat moss soil. Their previous pots had no drainage holes and I was concerned about rot when they were not drying out.

I live in zone 9 and have moved them outside to a shaded, bright area (I don't have great sunlight options). I have also never fertilized.

is there a chance of reviving them? It seems I have sunburned/water burned their leaves

though they have made no progress in growing/blooming, they haven't seemed to die completely. The bottom left AV is a miniature and the other three are normal AVs.

Don't want to be the bad news person but they are gone. Get a new plant and try again. Also AVS should not be kept outside except under cover.

They require bright light not direct. Also they look dry. Violets like to be kept evenly moist. Velleta

Just another observation, the pots you reported them in were way too large, they like small pots. At that stage solo cups would have been fine. I know the feeling of losing them is bad ( I have been there) but just get a new plant and try with a healthy one. Trust me they are not too difficult once you do a few adjustments. Velleta

Upper left is goner. The rest of them - if you move them inside, keep them moist and have them covered - with a plastic baggie - or some kind of dome - like a transparent cake lid ... may be some of them will perk up.

Next time - bug your friend for a follow-up. Plant growing is easier learned with hands on training - books and Internet - cannot beat a friendly touch of a green thumb.

Truth be told, they are all dead. This is unfortunate, because they were 4 different varieties (including a mini). I'm now trying to propagate (rather unsuccessfully) leaves from my adult African violet. Do y'all have any suggestions on this? Bear in mind, I'm new and have never propagated anything before.

Kailey -

do not use ceramic pots - they dry fast - I think that was your problem. Use Solo cups, K-cups - just make a hole for drainage. And after potting up - get them covered with a plastic baggie or angel cake lid - so you give them a little bit of humidity to start growing.

There are some YouTube videos about propagating from leaves that might be helpful. Search using "African violet leaf propagation".

i tried to propagate my 2-3 year old AV in to several pots and it was really rough on the divisions, let me get some pictures of how they are doing. if you account for expecting some loss it should be fine.

Hey guys so I have noticed that I get a 98% success rate if I treat my leaves as plants.

I plant them in small solo cups and wick water. But I live in Jamaica so I don't dome or anything like that.

That second one is planted awfully deep - the crown is under the soil. You'd do well to lift it up a bit - and add more perlite to your mix, too!

The point of the growth should be above the ground. Otherwise - it is toast.
