We use horizontal pulls in many of our projects. It gives the cabinets a very sleek and linear look. On the first picture below we used horizontal for a functional reason as well. The large drawers under the range top are for pots and pans so pulling them open (because they are large) is much easier.In our project on the 3rd picture the pulls are across the bottoms of the cabinets. It's a matter of what you like and how you prefer to use the cabinets.

Thanks for the response and pictures Design Intervention. Beautiful kitchens. I am really loving the look of horizontal drawers and horizontal door pulls. Very linear and different. Now just hope they are easy to open.

Very easy to open! Trust me.... my clients are very vocal when something doesn't work! LOL

You do have to learn where to pull, i.e. A drawer toward the center and a door slightly to one side. It isn't hard! My last two kitchens, master bath, and my last two office kitchens and my office storage cabinets all have horizontal pulls. Seem ok so far!
