Choose DCS or Kitchenaid 48 inch dual fuel range? Or NXR gas?

Hi, we are in the market for a 48 inch range and although we originally considered Thermador (also looked at Capital, BS, Berta, etc.), we now have constrained our budget to $6500. Just found 2 diff't deals and could get either a DCS dual fuel in that budget or a KA (dual fuel) for about $800 less than the DCS.

I bake quite a lot so was hoping for dual fuel, especially b/c we are on propane ($$$!), so that is appealing--normally dual fuel was too pricey for our budget. Both the DCS and KA come w/ 1 year factory warranties and are more or less out of the box, except for a scratch or two on the KA. We read everything we could find in past posts but there are not nearly as many posts as there are for other brands like BS, Viking, etc., so would love to hear any thoughts on this decision. Saw some comments online about the control panel on the KA, the difficulty of cleaning the DCS (?), and the noise of the fans for both.

Another idea is, for even less $, to get the NXR 48" range from Costco. Really know very little about that one though.

Thanks for any advice or thoughts.

NXR is a basically a collection of parts. Service will be so so depending on where you are located and you are basically rolling the dice. Having sold a few of them, most of them worked perfectly. One of them did not, and that's where the nightmare began.

Kitchenaid pro ranges are well rated, but not well received. Our chefs are currently using a kitchenaid (we rotate ranges) and generally don't like it, The burners aren't great for smaller pots and the ovens were uneven when baking. The DCS is currently not on rotation with us, but it's a solid platform that's been around for many years. The ovens are a bit smaller, but if it works for you, the tech is solid. Plus there are far fewer electronics to fail since there is no complicated control board. IMHO DCS is the choice among those 3.

You mentioned several times about the price issue. Have you budgeted for the exhaust hood for the 48" range? It will have to be a large powerful hood, 48-54" wide. Your exhaust duct will have to be 8" or 10" diameter, so if you don't have that already, you'll have to pay to have ductwork installed. Depending upon your local Code, you may also need a make-up air system. Sometimes the exhaust costs are greater than the range costs. Perhaps you should re-think the 48" size if the cost of the exhaust will be a problem.

Yes, we have planned and budgeted for all of that--getting a 54" with 1200 CFM. When I referred to the budget for the range, I did not mean to suggest we were running out of money. Just that when we decided how much to spend for each item, we decided $6000 or so was the max we wanted to spend for our range. I always create budgets for everything (lighting, tile, flooring cabinets, etc.) when remodeling homes so as not to overspend--appliances are no different. That way we can decide where to cut back and where to splurge, though normally I find most everything is a compromise rather than a blank check situation. Remodels always cost more than you want them to!

Might anyone have an opinion on DCS vs. Kitchenaid vs. NXR 48" ranges?

Before i settled on a Capital Culinarian all my research pointed to DCS. This was mostly from scouring this forum and talking to people who sell them and own them.

I love my 48 DCS Dual fuel range and on this site because the new house I'm remodeling has trouble with the 30 1/4" depth of the DCS... and I'm looking for reviews on others like Thermador.
