It's personal preference, some like MG some don't. Avoid moisture control, though some have claimed it works fine. I have used MG organic choice mixed with MG Orchid mix (non corse blend) and additional perlite with no problems. There are many mixes that others will mention besides MG and once you get all the info then decide.

Any potting mix that is basically all peat moss should be amended with something. Pine/Fir Bark fines or Perlite are two. Perlite is probably the easist to come by. But plain peat doesn't allow the roots to breath and will often retain moisture to the point that it is bad for the peppers. The additives provide drainage and allow oxygen to get to the roots. Some potting mixes have small amounts of Perlite or bark in them, but typically just in very small ratios and not enough for peppers. Buying the bark or perlite and adding it is the easiest way to make your potting mix pepper friendly.

If you want a truly pepper friendly mix, go with something like the "5-1-1" mix. Just do a search on the forum for "5-1-1". It is a lot of work and can get expensive though.

Promix HP or BX is ready right out of the bag if you want something simple. Then just add some slow release osmocote and you're good to go.

Essox is right about the other mixes / garden soil / miracle grow type of products. They comapct quite easily so you need to add more perlite or something to break it up give aeration.

Make sure it is a potting mix, and not soil. The difference between them is a great one. Plain Miracle Grow potting mix will work, avoid letting it dry too much to the point it shrinks up, it is hard to get it evenly moist again after that. Make sure the container has good uncloged drain holes.

Any potting mix will work but my preference is Pro-Mix and home depot is clearing it out at 6 bucks a bale.

I would recommend a mix that has no ferts in it so you have better control on when they eat.

All home depots I think they are discontinueing that brand.
