Hello all,
This is my first time posting here, so I hope I am asking
this question in the appropriate forum. I purchased a Moon Grafted Cactus a
couple of months ago. It’s been doing pretty well up until now. I sit it on a
bookshelf near a sliding glass door, and it gets a healthy amount of filtered
light without being overexposed to the intense Arizona heat. The other day, however, I
noticed that there is a small hole which appeared in the top portion of the
cactus. At first I thought a Mealybug or some other insect might have burrowed
into the cactus, but since I never take it outdoors, I don’t really see how
that’s possible. The base appears to be in good shape, and the hole in the Gymnocalycium
mihanovichii doesn’t appear to be
spreading, but I was wondering if it would be a good idea to replant it? The
cactus is still in the original store container. I would have done so earlier,
but I’m a bit worried about destroying the root-ball. Thank you for your
advice!
