This means most large bulbs like tulips or daffodils will be planted about 8 inches deep while smaller bulbs will be planted 3-4 inches deep. Planting depth is measured from the bottom of the bulb."

That said it better than I could have. Don't worry about covering the sprouts. The important thing is you got their bottoms (basal plate) in contact with soil so roots can sprout. Welcome to the world of bulbs!

In my heavy soil I plant a little more shallowly. In sandy soils a little deeper.

In pots the depth is important if they are going to live there for a few years. Try to shade the pots so the soil doesn't cook. Especially for lilies. Unfortunately it's too late to plant tulips for bloom. Good luck.

Ah well.. I didnt do that with the sprouted ones. The bulb itself is just under the soil with the sprout poking out. :/

You should probably be fine. If you are planning to dig them up after the foliage has "ripened" and then store before cooling, plant deeper next time.

I was advised by a knowledgable person to plant any sprouted hyacinths, daffodils and tulips with their green bits above the soil.

Otherwise, they tend to burn. (I think he said.) Whether it was from fertiliser, I cannot remember.

Normally, I plant them all about 4" deep.
