Help with under-cabinet lights!

Our architect is a bit of a lunatic about lighting and has picked out (what I would consider to be) expensive under-cabinet lights for our kitchen. He selected these: http://www.waclighting.com/product/2980 and with the amount we need, it will cost us about $2k just for these lights. I find that to be kind of insane.

There are some things I feel strongly about in our reno, and some that I really don't. This is one of those "don't"s, but I'm afraid that I'll really regret it if we get bargain-basement lights.

Does anyone have a recommendation for reasonably-priced under-cabinet lights? Do you have cheap or expensive ones? How do you like it?

We are doing a huge project and decision fatigue is setting in, so the things that I barely care about are really hard to prioritize googling... Thanks!

I have these lights out n my kitchen - have had them for 13 yrs and love them. I wanted lights which could be turned on/off individually, not from one switch, as I rarely use all the lights at a once - two are always on except at night. I like the Xenon bulbs - much warmer than LED. Do order to extra bulbs as they're hard to find other than online. There is nothing low end or bargain basement about these, plus such lights are totally hidden under the cabinets.

Good lord. And I thought I dropped a bundle on my kitchen. We just have the tiny LEDs on tape. I don't know what, exactly, they are called but they work beautifully. The only issue we had was that we had to switch out the warm white for the cool white because it was turning our yellow backsplash tile green. Now that we have the right color, they are awesome. If I recall correctly, they were under $700 Installed. Good luck!

I have a small kitchen about 7 1/2 - 8 feet of UC lights. I used Hafele Loox LED's tape lighting with tracks and lens diffuser plus everything else that was needed and they were about 350.00. Plus I have extra parts and lights.

Thanks to everyone who's commented so far- the tape lighting seems attractive to me. I'm not 100% sure how many feet we will need, but just eyeballing it I think it would be about 15 feet. Even if we used the individual fixtures with switches, I'm having a hard time getting to $1k with the lights Suzanne Brown posted.

Hitlights. Less than $200 for about 15 feet DIY. We just needed a switch installed from the wall to the inside of a cabinet.

I too bought tape lights and love them. I have 20 feet with a dimmer switch and they were under 200.00.The contractor had no trouble installing them, they are low voltage so do not require separate circuit and can be added to a a later time if I choose. They were the same brad sold at HD, but I went to an electronics store and gave the man a floor plan and he sold me what I needed. They go across the room and around appliances and windows with no special adapters. Baynesville Electronics in Towson MD is where I bought mine. The manager could not have been more helpful. I love many things in my new kitchen, but this is one of my favs.

If I had purchased the set up at HD, they would have cost more and been more difficult to set up. Try you local large scale electronics store or send and email to the above location and see what they can set up for you.

I have no connection to this store. I am actually just a grateful customer. I actually drove 45 minutes to have their help with this aspect of my remodel and I could not be more pleased.

We also used inspiredled and they're great - both the product and the customer service. We only have about 8' but it cost just a little over $100 including the transformer.
