Here's the thing; if you want the gray green, you should realy do "all" the cabinets. The warm red undertones of the wood you have, are exact opposites on the color wheel from greens. It all depends on how much you want to paint.

Here it is with a rendering of BM creekside. This looks great with your stainless and black counters, and the decorative trim in your backsplash. But now I think the floor and the wood cabinets get "redder" in comparison ...

I would tend to agree, the wood looks redder especially compared with the relaxed khaki. Can you " paint" the upper cabinets with the Creekside Green and then with the relaxed khaki to see the difference? I am so grateful for your kind help!

The upper cabinets have been decolorized to a gray tone (and unfortunately, since they are open so have some of your dishes ... but you can see how this would work better; doing all cabinets.

I couldn't agree more, to paint them all makes a big difference. The floor to ceiling bookcases on the other walls in picture one are in the same oak but would be separated physically so I think would be OK. In any case to paint them is not possible and it seems a shame to change custom made solid wood display bookcases. I love the warmth of wood so would like to keep some in my "bohemian" style!

Any thoughts on hardware? Simple black knobs? If I have the energy and the help of my SO, I may change to DIY Shaker, so many good ideas on how to do that on google.

Chantal, I don't know how you'll make a choice with so many suggestions. Remember go with what works for YOU. A couple of color options from my point of view are SW6183 Conservative Gray, and SW6205 Comfort Gray. I suggest ordering the 5 X 7 samples (I'd get 2 each) from SW, and tape them different areas of the cabinets. Leave them up for a day or two. Notice when you walk in the room what looks good to you. Notice how they change at different times of day, and different locations. Pick a time you like it/them - cause lighting makes colors change a lot! I wouldn't rush this step, because as you've already experienced - you don't want to do it again.

As to repainting all the cabinets and shelves - take one step at a time. If you love the way it's developing, think about the next option then.

If you want to economize on handles and save up for the full reno, you can spray paint your handles and drawer pulls, if you like the current shape.

Have you considered a very dark color for your lower cabinets? You would have less contrast with your dark counter top, and I think that dark colors look good with your warm wood tones. Charcoal, maybe with a bit of brown in it. Not a blue-gray. Or even black. It would make the lowers recede from view, and focus on your shelves.

I think the black looks the best. Add other touches of black by spray painting your picture frames black, for example. Consider painting the table legs black too.

Hi Chantel......I think the bronze is just fine with the stainless....I would mix the finishes in the space and make it a eclectic Bohemian feel.....I would love to see all the cabinets and shelves painted the Creekside green and paint the backs of the shelves a cream tone that matches your backsplash....add some red crates or boxes into the shelves to give it a funky look. I would paint the lowers first and see if you like the rustic feel of the wood with the painted cabinets....if you want more than paint the uppers...it will work both ways. Be careful erbal escape is a very cool tone...it is a cool green very different from Creekside green...it is a warm mucky green. Since your kitchen is small it looks really great to do all handles...no knobs...just another thing to consider.

Paint the lowers a glossy black. Under cabinet lighting would help, as you don't seem to have task lighting (I would guess you're always working in shadow.

Whatever color you choose painting the top cabinets the same. You could even match the stark white then glaze both with a warm neutral that you paint the walls. with those tiles you need to stay closer to beige or cream than grey. good luck painting cabinets is a lot of work

Definitely agree with Less, paint uppers and lowers the same color. Steer clear of a paint color that is too green-gray unless you want your floors to look pink. :))

These Sherwin Williams' colors are hues and tones that appear to be harmonious with your floor and wood bookcases.

Painting the cabs does take some time and effort, but once you see the transformation you'll wish you had done it sooner. :))

Cute little green kitchen...the creamy white walls, backsplash and table keep it looking cozy with a warm feeling. dont understand what would make your tile look pink if it is cream, tan or beige.....unless it is pink but does not look like it in the photo? You could go with bronze, stainless or black hardware....

wow black would really be a big job...would take 3 counts to give it a nice finish...and in my opinion with the black counter it will look like a dungeon...dosen't look like it gets very much light! I was even thinking you could do a bright Tiffany box blue on the bottom with cream uppers and black accents...very bright and cheerful.

This is with the Tiffany blue that would look great in your kitchen...this is almost your exact layout...with upper open cabinets painted cream.here it shows it with black counter.

Natalie...don't understand what you are saying? Half the paint samples you posted are in the Gray Green family. That color tone looks very nice with creams and tans...would look super cute in her kitchen.

Those colors have a lot of red so the undertone is warm rather than cool.

The OP's floor is not pink, never said it was. But I assure you, if a color in the green-gray range is introduced, it will draw out the red undertones in that tile and make it appear pink. :))

I love Benjamin Moore Nantucket Gray.

She seemed ready to sample Creekside. She can be the judge of pink floor.

Sorry Chantal. I truly am only trying to offer helpful advice. There are several colors on those charts I listed, some very deep saturated colors, not black, but deep enough for your room.

SW Shoji white would look great with the Creekside green.....it is the perfect creamy white.

Would like to do a warm cream (don't like the look of stark white). which goes with black countertop and oak bookcases, floor and backsplash. Must admit the charcoal looks stunning. Kendall Charcoal is a really nice dark rich gray..if you are considering dark grey.

I have no doubt it will look really great whatever you decide. If you go with the dark grey I would not do bronze handles...stainless handles will look best. :)

The Kendall charcoal will give it more of a urban industrial look rather than a bohemian look.

The charcoal looks great. With your eclectic style, it's the best.

I like lessiemore's charcoal best. It hides the stainless appliances, which are the least-harmonious feature of your existing kitchen. Futzing around with different light colors (while some look better than others) does not address that core problem. I vote for dark on the bottom.

Paint all the cabinets white and the open shelves also. It will look bright and modern and play well with the counter tops. I love the open shelves just edit what you put on them.

I would love to awesome one do the green and off-white picture for you. The dark also looks nice but to prior point, it might be a bit dark depending on the amount of light you get in the kitchen.

This is Kendal Charcoal on the lower cabinets....Shoji White will be much softer looking than this bright white subway tile. Look great with stainless steel.

I could not find and example with black granite...so this will add a darker element in the space so upper white cabinets and shelves is very important to keep the room lighter. I really think the Creekside Green would really give you more of an eclectic bohemian look and would not make the room to dark..... The green will look great with the black granite...something to think about :)

Green cabinets...couldn't find one with upper in cream or black granite but this shows how great it looks with a creamy white.

Update. Creekside green was too pale so decided to paint with Kendall Charcoal for lower cabinets which is great. Decided to give some architectural interest to cabinets by adding trim to convert to Shaker cabinets which once we got the hang of it, was easier than I thought and the difference is huge. Bought hardware from Anthropologie and Industrial Revolution which is stunning as per The Inspired Room which has been my inspiration. Am now ready to tackle the upper cabinets which we will Shaker and then paint with Shoji White. Thank you to everyone who encouraged and inspired me!
