    All hydrangeas in the bed. It does not look empty in winter- you have the architecture of the shrubs and the trees.

    they are planted 5' on center. This means that you allow exactly the same distance from the center of one plant to the center of the next. The goal is that with time the plants join, flowing together, with no soil showing.
