Front landscape idea

Thanks all for any advice. We recently had a home we purchased painted gray from a bright yellow and renovated inside. Now we need to get to the outside.

It's a u shape driveway with a path leading to the u shape courtyard and front door. It's a nice wood front door. We need to figure out the path and front landscaping and I can't figure it out. Someone mentioned maybe moving the path to lead directly to the front door versus curve. I also saw ideas to add bushes or rocks along the path. There's a small deck near the front door and a rock garden on the other side right now. Any creative recos are appreciated!

yes, I would change the path to go to the front foot. as it is now, the path goes by what I assume is not a primary entrance first. I would guess that people areally not sure where they are supposed to go to enter the house.

you need to provide a usda zone or zip code if you wamy suggestions for plants, etc.

I can tell from the snow that I'm not knowledgeable of plants that will thrive in your area.

I think grovers idea is a good one. The current deck is an oddity as it stands, so having it go all accross unifies the entire area. You can then identify the front door using large pots with flowers etc.
The house looks much better with the new paint!

Thanks. It's interesting as there a decks off the family room and mast bath and also around back. I'll post some Picts of it.

A wider walkway from the door between the two trees would look nice. A small pergola over the door running to the corner on the right would also add emphasis to the front door as it is not very prominent. I would also consider a horizontal wood privacy screen in an L on the right side of the deck and partially across the front of the deck. This will clearly identify the front door as the main entrance.

It's fine to have decks all around the house. The problem with the front is it doesn't look unified. Maybe have the deck come just halfway across, then use much larger concrete slabs for the walkway, and beds of whatever plants grown in your area.

Nice home and lot. Like the wall art on the exterior wall above the front deck.

Adding a shed roof front porch (about 6' deep) between two wings of your home with a gable over only the door / entry could also better define your front entry and be practical shelter from rain and snow for you while you unlock your front door.

You should consider creating a screened porch or sun room where your front deck is located, especially since you have other decks.

If your front sidewalk turned before it reaches the deck -- removing and relocating about five of the concrete squares -- and curved to go between the two large trees and then aimed directly at the front door, your front entry would be better defined.

You could leave the sidewalk that actually leads to the deck from between the two large trees and the door because going to the deck would be a left turn off the main sidewalk and not in any way confuse a visitor as to which door to knock.
