Showplace white paint

Does anyone have experience with Showplace white cabinets? We are getting close to finalizing our kitchen remodel and plan on a white painted finish. The sample door the KD has looks like it's from 2013 (based on the label) and is a creamy white when put against a true white. It's not a bright enough white to go with the rest of our selections. I suspect the painted white door sample may not be a true representation or the white has changed since. We can select from one of many SW colors for an upcharge but we'd rather avoid that if possible. Has anyone seen their white paint in person? Does it closely match any specific SW or BM colors? The pictures online make it appear white but that may or may not be accurate. We plan on the Concord full overlay door style with 5 piece drawers. This is a picture of their white.

Showplace did have a white color change several years ago, but I recall the 'old white' was more grayish than creamy. Did the sample you see say white? Or Soft Cream? Maybe you saw the soft cream sample.

Showplace came out with White II. I don't recall when that was...but maybe the sample she has is the old white color. Their new White II is a fairly white/white but not a stark arctic white. They don't have a quick ship door order program, but you can get sample chips quickly. Or if you want to drive to Ohio...I have a Concord Flush Inset door sample you can see!

Also, FYI, with Showplace, full overlay and flush inset are very close in price....unless you don't like inset.

showplace ought to give you their white paint formula...if you need to be particular about the shade of white that you select. Take the formula and buy the five dollar sample bottles you can get at Lowes or a paint store....then take it home and examine it over a few days propped up on vertical surfaces....near your windows..in a corner...in a high and low position...etc. If you can't get their formula from their tech people [I think they should send you at least a small sample, if not a sample painted door]....I would look elsewhere.

That's not how paint works. A "formula" only works in the one particular line that has formulated it. And it doesn't cross barriers of types of paint. If you want Color A in satin paint for a walk and in s Porch and Floor enamel for the screened porch, the pigment amounts that go into each base will not be the same. And that would be in the same vendor line.

Cabinet companies that "match" well known lines colors do NOT use their "formulas" in the high solids opaque conversion varnish that is used for cabinets. They will make the necessary adjustments for base type and sheen level, etc. There is zero chance of a homeowner producing the same color if given the amounts of each pigment used. Because the pigments won't even be the same. Nor will the base.

if done-again has a certain white in mind that she can pinpoint from SW or BM, shouldn't she compare the formula that showplace uses, [ which she reports she does not think will work], She is seeking a certain white, so comparing what showplace offers with what she wants, and getting their tech people to handle the issue seems a starting point.....what she wants however is to avoid an upcharge.....so examining showplace's offering seems to be what she's doing, however she feels the doorsample available isn't accurate or current......so asking questions about the current formula, or getting a newer sample door seems a start for her search.

No, getting a fresh sample from the cabinet company is the way to start. If the standard colors won't work, and I see no reason why the pictured wouldn't, then there is no avoiding custom charges. No formula from anybody for anything is going to help in this situation.

I was hoping someone had seen the white in person or had compared it to a SW or BM color. The sample door is creamy compared to other whites. If it wasn't labeled white I would have assumed it's the soft cream color. The pictures I've seen online appear much whiter. The above picture is what we're aiming for. The trim work in the house will be matched to the cabinets as close as possible. I'll ask the KD if he can get another sample.

Definitely get an updated sample door. (We had SP installed, and I also noted the production date on the sample doors I viewed.) What might be very helpful for you to see, once you get the new sample, is if SP's white paint will yellow over time. So, hang onto the 2013 sample, too, for comparison.

The sample did say white II actually. It was somewhat beat up so that may have attributed to the color being off. If we weren't a few states to the west of you we'd probably stop in to see your display. I'll ask about the inset also. Our KD didn't mention anything and I assumed it would be significantly more.

Did you use the 2 1/4 or 2 3/4 cope and stick option? Do you have any advice on all 5 piece drawers vs slab on top with the Concord style? Do you recall what pulls you used?
