Prune 'First Blush'?

last modified: 10 years ago

I potted up what was left of First Blush but I don't think the pot was draining very well and it really was to too big.

I bought a smaller pot, some faster draining medium and repotted it.

Should I prune it? I have been reading that some roses pull thier resources into their canes and I would hate to lop all that off, but if it isn't true in this case, are the little root nubbins supporting those relatively large canes? I can see I am going to have to remove any buds so it can focus on growing new roots, if it survives.

Before repotting.

What's left of the roots.

The tiny leaves were looking a little wilted this morning.

TIA
