Plants, and where planted

We live in St Charles, can you please tell me what kind of flowers these are? Also being fairly new here, what kind of plants survive the hot summers? I planted a lot last year, most died, or eaten despite the deterring spray I used.

They all look to be white azaleas. Spring flowering. If so, azaleas can be temperamental like rhododendrons. They prefer more acid soils, and if eaten typically take a long time to grow out of it. What are you spraying with?

Hello and welcome to the area! Robert is correct - those shrubs are 'Delaware Valley' Azaleas and they are performing fantastically on the Northeastern side of this house where they get some morning sun, but mostly shade. We were also able to provide our own amended topsoil mix in the planting beds that was a better growing medium than the VERY clay soils we have!

There are a ton of great shrubs and perennials that are beautiful here! Obviously each has different requirements for sun exposure, water availability, soil requirements etc so it's just about choosing the right plant for the space.
