Paint for bathroom

last modified: 10 years ago

We are doing our basement and this bathroom photo is my inspiration. Of course it's a smaller bathroom so there will not be a tub, and the shower will be a much smaller one. I'm doing the same floor, white shower walls and a similar accent tile, but the one I picked out has blue in it (pics in below comments). I'm thinking I should do a pale blue wall instead of the taupe color in the pic since there is no window in the bathroom. Thoughts? I'm also going to put in the comments two vanities I am thinking of. I never had a freestanding one, but I like this one because of the space on the top. I think I should definitely go with the espresso wood as it would be a nice contrast to all the other accents.

Here is the accent tile. I'm thinking just One wide band of it around the shower and also it will be inside the shower niche. Thoughts on if I should just do one accent band or three smaller ones? The shower will not be that big.

    Standard vanity or floating?

    Vanity

I like floating. Do you have an IKEA nearby? Their vanities are substantially less and have neat interiors. Also currently on sale. You can pick all kinds of sink configurations.

Hi nosoccermom's and thank you. I'm not necessarily looking to buy those exact two vanities I purchased, they are just an example of a look. Nearest ikea is sadly 2 hours or so away

I would only use one band of accents. Really like the mini brick or herringbone on the first picture. Lots of options for the wall color, such as pale blue, green, aqua, etc.

I also really like the mini brick or herringbone options for the accent tile. You could do one band of the herringbone, or two or three narrow bands in the mini brick. It's going to be very pretty.

My bathroom is painted BM Beach Glass, and I love it. It's kind of blue-gray-green. It changes a lot depending on light, so be sure to test it if you like it.

I like floating vanities, if you don't need the storage space. It looks very cool to put lighting underneath them, and it works as a great night light for guests.

I also like the mini brick in the accent tile, however, I thought I should go with the half inch by half inch accent tile in the squares because it's a different style than all the other tiles. The floor and the shower wall tiles are all rectangle shaped so I thought the small squares would break up having too much of the same rectangle pattern.

I see your point. It's just that the small square mosaics are everywhere. But maybe there's a reason.

    Do you have close-ups?

(As an aside, I wouldn't be impressed by the grouting on this sample board. are they irregularly shaped or is there any reason)

I like the wall color and espresso vanity you have planned. I like the thinner tops like the Ceramic Impressions tops with integrated sinks by Kohler. They come in Kohler colors and are very reasonably priced.

I like the half inch mosaic for a change from the mini bricks, and something other than the horizontal band, which are both so common. One idea is to run a 12" wide band vertically through the shower fixtures since that's where you face while showering.
