I think you have too much, just the tray would work. Take off the bowls.

I would love to see the tray as is without the magazines.

I like either the tray, or the 3 bowls/candles. Not both together.

Eight items, by my count, is too much. Keep it to 3 or five, max.

You could add the magazines back as a stack alongside the tray but not in it.. It looks much better!

Those blue balls connected by the rope seems a little too beachy to me. I don't think they fit the style of the room. MHO

Your right tip arks they are a bit beachy. Have to find something else for tray then. Not sure what.

I would suggest you try pulling in pieces from other rooms to play around with for arrangement, but I probably would even try using those bowls again, which I thought were lovely. I might try placing that container of flowers in one of the bowls ( L or Med size bowl), and place some candies in the smaller bowl that's stacked on top of magazine, or throw in that animal horn thing again, or stack that candle holder on top of books. It's just a matter of playing with heights and proportions until you're comfortable.

Your table just "needs" some of YOU on it - what about a spot for a cup of tea and your favorite book? Do you quilt or knit? Do you need a spot to put up your stocking feet after a long day? This house - this table - should be for YOU, reflect YOU, meet YOUR needs. And it can also reflect the seasonal changes or whatever else you're interested in. If you have children or grandchildren, I bet they'd LOVE some Lego's or some board games on that table, telling them you can't wait to play with them!

I liked your first photo. If anything I might change out the commercial looking poster you have above the FP. Original art would be better. Nice room, though.

I like your first pic too. The tray alone is too little. I particularly like the mix of casual (the blue Buoyant glass) along with the flashier bowls. Your entire room has a lovely mix of casual and more upscale decor. Nice job!

Thank you. I'll keep playing with options. Thank you all for the suggestions. Sandra the art is an original purchased from an art curator. Maybe it's a bad shot. While i might consider changing it I don't think my hubby is ready to give it up so quickly. It is very traditional and I wish I would have done something a little different at the time.

For a little more height on the table just a taller earthen vase with bigger tulips will do the trick instead of the short vase but still placed on the tray.

Love the copper bowls. I would keep the three, but put a beautiful white orchid in the medium pot, top with moss, for some height. Then a couple of pretty coffee table books.
The tray has too many little items IMHO.
