I think two large square art pieces on the long wall and an area rug will cozy the space up. On the short wall, an interesting piece that could be accesorized with colorful pottery, dishes, etc would look nice as well.

Large area rug, then drapes, and chair cushions and something on walls by way of art would go a long way. Probabyl choose the art and rug first.

Something like this for the short wall. The space is too narrow for furniture on the long wall so just art there. Not this color or wood..just the concept.

I just added a small buffet to our eat-in area and I love it. It has some drawers for easy access to napkins and wipes and such (I have small kids). I added a small lamp, a family pic and a few trinkets and it is super cute. I am mounting a large chalkboard above it to write notes and menu items,etc. You can easily find a buffet piece at any flea market, look on craigslist. Paint it yourself and good to go!
