I would like to open up my stairs and basement entrance exactly like this. My house is very similar. Are the stairs going down to the basement curved or straight? Mine are straight. I'm trying to figure out how you finished the area under the stairs where the drywall meets the railing. Can you share some pictures of how it looks or can you advise me on how to finish mine? It's a curved staircase with the basement stairs straight and the floor under is a corner. Thanks.
