These light switches are momentary low voltage switch and generally a GE product! You will not be able to change them with an ordinary switch. If you go to a electrical wholesaler they should be able to source them. You might also want to try eBay.

Hi! This is a low-voltage light switch. We have the same in our home. (Built in 1976) We renovated our house and kept the low-voltage in many rooms, but upgraded the toggle switches and cover plates. Go to: www.kyledesign.com

I google the switches and your switch may not be a GE product but google GE RS232 - RS Series Unlighted 2 Button Momentary Switch - Ivory and you will find a supplier. You might have to replace the switches as well as the plate.
