The wilting aspect it portrays would lead me to believe some sort of root rot going on. We have had an exceptionally wet winter, so perhaps that area is not draining as well as it should. Or that any added amendments are retaining excess soil moisture.

Drought damage will do this. The dry side gets cankers and dies. It could also be weevil damage or something else eating the roots. The effect is the same as drought.
