I was so excited a week or two ago to find a few tiny grape hyacinth plants growing right in my lawn, a gift from an overflying bird last year, no doubt.

But now they're gone, the blooms just -- I imagine -- chewed off by ... someone. My crocuses never seem to last more than a few days and I'm guessing it's squirrels doing that, but do the darn squirrels like grape hyacinth blooms too?

Birds? I doubt it. I can see birds eating the seed pod, but not the flowers.
