Debbi B. - I love your kitchen. Favorite rooms to me are not necessarily the best decorated, but the one that calms one's spirit the most. It doesn't necessarily makes sense or has the same feel to someone else, but, for the individual, when she grabs her cup of Joe, or a glass of wine, she curls up somewhere, or put up her feet and there is just that sense of peace - that says "yes" and for a moment - all is well with the world. Thank you all for your kindness in sharing.

I love every room in my home. I've decorated each of them and made them my/our own, filled with special things that mean a lot to me/us. But, I'd have to say that my living room is my favorite. Why? It's cozy, beautiful, and filled with some of my most special pieces of art. It's also very user-friendly, despite the cream colored sofas (LOL). The sofas are very comfortable. I love napping there. You can put your feet up on my sturdy antique coffee table from India. There's a basket of comfy throws next to one of the sofas. There's a game table in one corner that we use a lot. We love turning on some mellow jazz (Miss Billie) and playing backgammon or Gin. It's an equally great place for entertaining or for reading a book. Out every window is a drop-dead mountain view. And there's a lovely fireplace for cozy evenings. Our friends tell me that it's a very inviting and comfortable room to hang out in. I think so, too.

I love all the rooms and understand their favorite status! Fun thread!

I'm still loving our kitchen, which we redid three years ago. It's inspired an upgrade of cooking skills and equipment all around, and still is holding up well. The room before was relatively cramped at 12x12 and the adjacent spaces underutilized. Now, post reno, the space has been maximized for utility.

My master bedroom is my favorite. Probably because I did it on such a tight budget. Got the vintage dressers off of Craig's List for $50 each! and I drove from Cincinnati to Cleveland to purchase my two vintage leather wing chairs from another Craig's List seller. Second favorite is my new living room. Just need to find a pair of wall sconces for the fireplace. (sorry about the weights trying to uncurl my new rug!)

I don't have a favorite room--I'm not happy with any of them :( But I've enjoyed seeing everyone else's!

No favorite...it depends on what I'm doing...love the deck, love the nook in my bedroom for reading and napping, love to cozy by the fire in the library, love the DR, love the view and the light in my craft room, but spend most of my time in the kitchen or FR. I'm so grateful for having had the opportunity to build our own home and work with such a talented architect where we could create all these different spaces that fit us to a T.

I love all of the rooms in my house, but I think my favorite is my living room, although right now I'm ga-ga over my newly re-done kitchen.

I'm sure folks are sick of my LR, but here it is yet again.

I love our wooded setting for our country/cottage home...especially the dining nook.

A week ago, I might have said my new master bath. But, after having had lots of friends (mostly neighbors from the house I sold last year) visit this week, I've decided it's the living room where we sit and chat and catch up with what's going on.

Right now it's my atrium because I am working on it, getting lots of colors and pretty flowers in there. It's always a work in progress as I keep changing up the plants. It will be slightly different tomorrow etc.

In the winter (and apparently it is still winter here in Boston, as we're getting SNOW on Sun/Mon!) it's this room, which is technically a dining room but since no one ever dines here, we use it as sort of a library. The settee faces a wall of bookcases. This is where I have my morning coffee every day.

In the summer, my favorite room is our screen porch. I don't have a photo, though.

Sueb20, what a very nice space. I appreciate rooms like yours which show personality and are not cluttered, and where every piece stands out individually. It's a beautiful room without looking "decorated", if that makes any sense. I'm beginning to really dislike spaces where everything is carefully coordinated and appropriate but you have no idea about the people living there.

I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's pics--some for the first time, others I've enjoyed before.

Everyone's pictures are so different but all so beautiful.

It is amazing to compare pictures of living spaces posted here compared w/ average pictures of random houses, like in home listings. I guess we're a self selecting group of people who care a lot about our environments but it is still amazing how much of a difference there is when comparing w/ people who don't seem to be really into decorating!

Thank goodness I thought to ask the carpenter to make me a cornice board to fit the nook while he was here doing the trim on the house. Then it was just a matter of covering the board. Fortunately DH is an engineer so he helped me rig up the hardware. Underneath is a room darkening roller shade that disappears behind the valance.

I just noticed that dyhgarden and I have the same wall paneling in our LRs. Interesting, because I'd never seen it before.

I can barely sew a seam, Annie, so you can justly brag about having made that gorgeous window treatment. The choices of pattern, color and design are inspired. The shade makes it very functional in an unobtrusive way.

I don't think I could choose a favorite among these. I wonder if these rooms are so much more interesting to me than those I see in magazines and blogs because I "know" the people who posted them. Anyway, I really enjoy seeing the variety and details.

The zebra rug is from pottery barn. I love it. Shockingly, so does DH and family.

Here's my fave. It's our recently renovated bathroom. My DH did most of the work himself.

My favorite is our dining room. It is half of our two story great room living/kitchen/dining room. I like that the room is big enough for a large table, and since it is shared with the living room i can always rearrange furniture to accomodate everyone at the dining table if needed. Big windows let in tons of natural light and we have enjoyed watching deer pass by as we have supper. It is the natural gathering place as soon as guests come in the door and they feel welcomed right away, rather than a little formal foyer that everyone gets stuck standing in. It is a new build, and I am still in the process of decorating and getting furniture, so be kind- i know I have 3 different kinds of chairs at the table right now; and that the yard and driveway are not done yet. :)

I think your space has a lot of promise and the dining table is great. Have you considered a gorgeous rug under the dining table to give this space a separate identity from the kitchen?

Thank you tibbrix. Those are the new Ikea line. The whole kitchen is the same cabinets, but those two are for coats, hats, gloves, and shoes to keep the entry tidy.

A rug...with 4 little kids eating here the polished concrete floor is so much easier to clean than a rug, but that would set it off nicely!

It's been a real treat looking at all of these lovely pictures, every single one.

I'm going to post how my favorite room feels to me: cozy and "home". Our living room, with a fire going, watching a good movie or reading a can't-put-it-down book, enjoying a glass of wine, snuggling.

Just gorgeous, GG. I love the horse portrait and the color of the wall over the FP. Is that a different color, a brown, than the rest of the walls or is it wallpaper? It's so beautiful. The zebra chair on the Oriental...really wonderful.

I've got a fire going in my FP now, using cedar stumps, no less, so it smells amazing and is crackling and popping. Wonderful.

I did the FP wall with a chocolate brown paint, the other walls are a cream color. And the rug is the one I got from Jen. I cherish it. :) The horse picture is very special ... my dad surprised me with it 20 yrs ago. We were browsing in a boutique, and he noticed me looking at it, then went back later and got it. The clock was my great-grandparents', and it belonged to another relative before them, so we think it's late 1800s-early 1900s. Still works! But too loud. :D

What a wonderful story about your father getting you the portrait. Interestingly enough, the painting over my FP was given to me by my father when I bought the house. He bought it from the artist, in Provincetown, and had it in his own house. I had told him - in more delicate terms - that when he bit the dust, I wanted that painting. He loves green. I was surprised when he gave it to me, and I in fact refused it because I know how much he likes it, but he insisted. Great dads are precious gems, and I am so lucky to have one.

And of course...big nod to the chocolate brown over you FP! Lol. But honestly, it looks fantastic.
