As of the wood planks on the counter top.. I know of a place where you can get FULL cut, raw edge , As it is called wood slabs. Simply the entire tree cut into a slab with the bark in both edges. I got 9 slabs about 2.5 inches in thickness and saw , on their site-photo attached no. 1 , where they joined 2 slabs-- which had the center edge-- straight edged for joining by dove tail , with backer boards for stability as in the table they built. Same as in a Cabinet top . When you seal the wood it protects the glued center . Stain 1st if the wood is not the color you would like it to be . THEN SEAL. Believe me, it was a well earned 100 dollars. Those boards were HEAVY at 5 feet much less 10 and 12 feet long from 5 to 10 inches wide as well. Depends on your budget. If you want the number I have it. The slabs of Rainbow poplar which I have gotos of as well with the bark edges on both sides I have that information as well. Woodplanet is AWESOME.. of course the labor and finishing is up to you but, for a fraction of the cost.? lots of time, effort and elbow grease but it is addicting when you start. the results are very worthwhile.
