What is the potting material?

I put a thin layer of sm in the bottom of the pot, then Schultz Orchid Mix then another layer on the top of the pot.

Generally, orchids like to get wet but need to drain and dry easily. Your mix may hold too much water. How often do you water?

I thought this kind of orchid doesn't like to dry out like Phal. I keep it moist all the time by feeling to top. When the sm on top start to dry out I water it. It does have drainage holes in the bottom. Could it be too much fertilizer? I fertilize it every time I water it by using 1/4 strength. I got that advice from somewhere says "weakly weekly".

How old is the potting mix? I'm thinking if it did not have any moss might be better. I'm guessing it is too much water. http://www.aos.org/Default.aspx?id=201 is the AOS culture sheet. Good luck

Tanie, I grow mine in bark but it is very humid in Florida so you are probably wise growing in Sphag and bark.

When I grew them in NY, I used bark, sphag and perlite. It drained well but held some moisture to get through the winter. I always let them go dry to the touch. They like air around the roots or they will rot out.

Let it dry out more and water when almost dry. You could repot now as spring is here. Remove some sphag and repot with some small bark with sphag. Put them outside when the weather warms up.

The yellow leaf could be an old leaf and normal leaf drop. They do drop their leaves. Hard to tell, could be roots but it is spring and most problems can be turned around now. Just let it dry out more and repot with some bark.

Thank you Harvey and Jane for the link and advice. I got a bag of mix specifically for Odon when I was in Vancouver last week and repot it yesterday as you said. More drainage and a bit less sm. and will make sure let it dry a bit more before I water it. Hope that will do.

How old was the potting medium?

If I remembered it right it's about less than a year. These are a baby shoots from the main bulbs I had rebloomed for me a couple of time. Those gave out these little ones. I took these little ones and put them in a small pot with the medium I told you earlier. I think you and Jane might be right from I watered it a bit too much. The top of the pot with sm moss turned kind of mossy green and yesterday when I repot it in the Odon mix. The sm I layered in the bottom of the pot was very wet even with good drainage.
