Could you please post a picture? Also, why Pergo? There are so much better options than laminate flooring. If you don't want real hardwood, have you considered ceramic wood-look tile. It's much more durable than Pergo and you don't get the off-gassing you do with a laminate floor.

this isn't a great picture but the sliding door and window in the kitchen give you an idea. There is also a doorway on the left side of the kitchen that is the same trim color. We are not set on pergo specifically, just a hardwood look. The island will be gone and the cabinets will end so the kitchen and dining room will be open.

No matter what kind of flooring you choose, if you don't like the color of the existing wood trim, paint it. Don't let the trim color dictate your flooring choice.

Agreed! Never let the trim dictate your flooring decision! That's like letting the buttons on your shirt dictate the rest of your outfit.

In regard to what product you choose for your flooring material depends on how you use the space, is there lots of wear and tear? Kids, dogs???? What is the weather, where the property is? It's hard to generically give sound advice on what material to use without knowing all the pertinent facts.
