Opinion on parquet floors

I have a lake house with 30 yr old parquet flooring that I like but cannot refinish, in kitchen living/dining and hallway. I would appreciate opinions on installing NEW parquet floors - kitchen, dining/living, hallway and bedroom about 800 sq feet, as opposed to plank engineered hardwood. Would anyone speculate on parquet floors making a comeback?

Not anytime soon they were a cheap way of getting wood floors in that era not at all like the beautiful parquet floors in relly old houses in europe so go engineered and enjoy the fact that you don’t have such a busy floor.

If you like the parquet you may do what you like, but it is not nearly as popular as traditional hardwood.

In the most recent This Old House renovation, they repaired the parquet floor in the front hall and I think it runs into the family room too. The rest of the house is traditional hardwood. It wood be OK to mix them if you keep the color similar.
