Beverage Center Advice?

We are looking for the perfect beverage center for the kitchen we are building in our new home. Perfection, I recognize, may not be attainable. But can you please help us get as close as possible?

We would like:

- 24" wide

- glass door, able to accommodate a wood frame overlay

- quiet

- wine storage (ideally two racks, but could accept one) with separate shelves that can accommodate beer bottles and cans

- a lock would be nice (we have a toddler and a 4 month old; toddler LOVES opening and emptying the bev center we currently have at every opportunity)

- dual zone temperature control would be nice

We currently have a U-line, which works reasonably well. It could be quieter, it has no lock, it is not dual zone, and the build quality could be a bit more robust. But it is not as horribly expensive as some, and it has served us well for the last 5 years. It is probably the current leading contender. It appears that Perlick probably ticks off all of the boxes, though I have heard from a salesman (who does not sell Perlick) that it is not particularly quiet. Can anyone comment on that? It is also probably the most expensive of any I have looked at, which might dissuade us.

I'm interested too. I need to backfill a 24" oven in a wall and would like to find a beverage center to fit that space.

I was going with Perlick. I can't imagine they are not quiet but I was able to get a much better deal on a Liebherr. It is extremely quiet. That was my main criteria as this is in my kitchen/great room open floor plan. It has one extendable rack and one shelf molded for bottles. It has a lock. One half of a glass shelf can be removed in the front to allow for taller bottles on the shelf below. LED lighting. Door is field reversible. Only thing it does not have on your list is dual zone. I believe it can also accommodate a panel. We had a U Line in our previous house and it served us well; however, the Liebherr is a huge step up IMHO.

After looking for a year or so we bailed on the perfect beverage center for two reasons: 1) cost - both $ and cabinet space. 2) we are big into craft beer and they all seem to be wine-centric. The wide variety of craft beer bottle shapes, sizes, and heights would quickly max out a bev center with too few bottles. We ended up getting a small Danby 7.3 CF ($299) fridge for our garage and keep it on its lowest setting. It's not as convenient as an in-kitchen, but the price is right, it fits WAY more craft brew, and makes no noise and takes up no space (in the kitchen).

Just an option.

We have a Sub Zero beverage center and we are very happy with it. It is very quiet and has two wine racks. It's perfect for the kids drinks and water.

I have a Marvel. It is actually two units. They can come as a single unit or stacked combo. On the bottom is a refrigerator. The top unit is wine storage. They are slide in units. I had a cabinet built to accommodate them. Nice to have this bar area away from the kitchen madness.

Check out True as well. Along with Perlick, it might be the best available.

We may be going with per lick (floor model at significant discount) The salesman did say that they are getting a lot of service calls recently with U-Line for what its worth.

I have the Liebherr ru500. It's fabulous--so quiet and keeps perfect temp. It's recently discontined and replaced with a newer model but you may be able to find one at a nice price on closeout.

You may have already made your purchase, but we have the Danby Silhouette. It meets all of your requirements except for overlay application, but there may be one model that does except overlay. We love the dual zones, works well in our wet bar.
