I use Dyna Gro Plant Pro 9-3-6 & Dyna Gro Plant Protekt 0-0-3 through out the year. I have my trees planted in a Gritty Mix also. Watering and fertilizing changes depending on what time of year it is for me and what state of growth the trees are in.

I feel that the trees need routine fertilizing with every watering from start of full growth right through the blooming cycle. I water with plain water in between if needing water more than once a week. The Gritty Mix in most cases is a soil less mix and the trees need nourishment and especially during a time of pushing out all the blooms. I do not put slow release fertilizer on top of the soil as some do. You are in an climate which will have a much longer growing time than myself.

I have used the MG 24-8-16 when I have had to change until new Dyna came in.

There is quite a difference of opinion when it comes to a fertilizing regiment.

Thank you rick for input.. i was worried about killing my blooms early or having no blooms. they are so beautiful. These pictures are actually from 2 years ago before i switched to the gritty mix. i just switched to gritty about a month ago..

How do I get into the fold. I have about 50 adeniums... about 30 that I grew from seed and the others I purchased. nobody I know understands the addiction...

You do not have to tell me about, the nobody knowing why we addicts, see what we see.

People will chime in. I find this a slow time, but there are many here that just have not started.

lovermgd, You might notice a difference in your watering regiment now that you have gone with the Gritty Mix. Definitely give them fertilizer at least once per week at 1/2 the recommended dose. Most dosages listed are for bi-weekly watering. If you go with 1/2, you can do it each week and any more than once a week, go with plain water. I know that many with long growing seasons such as yours will use a slow release on top of mix.

Lovemgd, your trees are gorgeous. I'm hoping mine will look that good some day. I am in the Tampa area. I'm still experimenting with the best practices for growing my trees. I have 10 trees, and about 40-50 seedlings from last year, and just starting another 75. Three trees are starting to bloom now. It's an addiction.

Cyn.. what do you do with them all? do most of your seedlings bloom pink? I bought different varieties of seeds... and they are all coming out pink.

rcharles.. I imagine it would be hard to find tropical plant lovers in Canada :)

I think there are many people here growing tropicals, but not the numbers as you would find in U.S. The West Coast of Canada is much more conduscent to growing them as our winters are much milder than most parts. I have many friend through Canada growing Adeniums, Plumeria, Hoya and such. All just as hooked as I am.

I think it goes with the territory.

Your lucky your plant should be able to stay out all year. Even my summer nights are cool 60 or so.

I love the pink and white one, I think I will look for a scion in that color. The plants I chose are grafted with the new Rosy Obessum triple flowes. They have so many colors and shape. I like Arabicum base for it's caudex.

I think the pink color is what is the original color. They have made new colors and with a lot more petals.

I take mine indoors when the weather is going to be below 40.. and a few lizards tag along. that is probably about 3 or 4 times a year. luckily my husband is cooperative :0
