With your flooring I would choose a taupey gray but it sounds nice. Be careful to avoid blue gray.

Your older cabinets would probably benefit from a good paint job. For the upper cabinets, you will need to pick a white color which works with the backsplash unless you are going to change that too. Monitors do not show colors true, so I can only guess, but it looks like the backsplash might have a pinkish undertone that could be affected by the white you choose.

If you can live with open shelving, removing the upper cabinets on the window wall and replacing with shelves. Place dishes and items which express your personality to make your kitchen be a happy place for you:) Brushed nickel and oil rubbed bronze are popular hardware colors.
