Wood blinds vs drapes

Hi, would love some advice on choosing blinds vs drapes for my new construction home. The 1st floor has dark Jacobean stained hardwood flooring, 2nd floor has grey carpeting and all windows have white trim. I was originally planning dark wood or faux wood blinds throughout the house to match the floors, but now worrying it might be too much with the dark wood floors already downstairs. Any thoughts? Would drapes be better downstairs, and if so will it look strange from the curb to have drapes downstairs and wood upstairs? See attached pic. Furniture will be modern, grey sofas and dark wood.

I think the wood blinds may feel too dark with your floors, but if you will be adding a large rug, then that will help to lighten the room. You can't beat beautiful linen drapery or roman blinds either and I don't think the two floors' windows have to be the same.

Have you considered Roman Shades?
There are some great fabrics and designs to choose from.

I also think wood blinds would be too dark. Roman blinds or drapes in a beautiful color can really beautify your room!

I am not a lover of wood blinds or shutters at all. If light control is an issue install solar shades they will give you heat and light control privacy during the day and you keep your view then some nice full drapery at night for privacy and i really love roman shades or drapes in bedrooms

I also believe the wood blinds would be to dark and heavy for the area. Drapes with soften the room.

Thanks so much everyone. If I have a grey sofa do I need to do grey drapes? What other colors do you think would work? Maybe cream?

White painted wood blinds would look lovely with the trim and hardwood. Drapes may darken the room a little more. Wood blinds tend to let lots of light in.
