How would you guys recommend lighting our den? There is literally no lighting in it and I know next to nothing about this kind of thing lol! I want it to be completely lit and flexible in its functionality (parties, bible studies, acting classes).

It's got a tray celing that is about 19 inches from the walls. There's a fireplace and some cabinets on the main wall which don't leave much room between it and the start of the tray ceiling (only about 8 inches). They put some track type lighting (not sure what you call them) in front of the fireplace and cabinets but due to the lack of space before the tray celing starts they are way too close and don't give a very even spread of light on them (some really bright spots and lots of shadows).

I'd like the 3 walls (minus the doorways of course) to be lit to showcase the decorations on them.

I'm assuming some kind of recessed lighting spread across the highest part of the ceiling with some kind of hanging down light fixture in the center (as seen in my little diagram)?

What do you think?
