HI -- I recommend you call in a real good finishing carpenter because you have made a bit of a problem here for yourself . Maybe look at some photos of stair baseboards to see how others have been done . The white baseboards are a little too tall to go with the stair stringers . The ends could be done with a picture frame corners on the ends to finish them off , but are still not going to connect to the stringers . Are you going to paint the stringers white too ? The baseboards might have to be re-moved and be trimmed to match height of stringers .

You need to remove the baseboard that does not match and replace it with the new baseboard that you are using, otherwise it will look really awkward.

As you can see in the photos below the molding stays the same throughout.

So the baseboard shouldn't be white?? I too think it doesn't match! Sign* it looks weird to me the stairs are beautiful but the white baseboard doesn't look right.. Please help with ideas.. Our home is almost finished, thanks so much for your help
