ugh! i just applied this to my 3 danes last week. i tried the seresto collars but 2 of my dogs got sick from it so they went into the trash. we have a terrible tick problem here so i'll have to do some looking around for other options if this is the case with frontline.

We do too, Nina. We have a vacation home in Upstate NY where we usually spend weekends/holidays, and the deer are all over my front and backyard.
I found a tick on one of mine last week and it was still March. Ugh.

I haven't given them their dose of Bravecto yet, thought about changing to a monthly topical because I'm not sure how much time we're really going to be spending up there this spring/summer. But now, I don't know what to do.

same here, ellie. i found a tick on one of the dogs last month (unattached) and also found one on ME (attached!!). ugh ugh ugh!!!

This all sounds very familiar. I live in a high tick area. I've used Frontline and Frontline Plus for nearly twenty years and none of my dogs or pups have every had ticks.

The OP's choice of flea control is a systemic that requires the flea or tick to actually bite the dog to be effective.

How do you know? You think you've caught them all? lol. Even Frontline will tell you the probability of your dog being bit while frontline is killing it (up to 48 hours) is pretty high.

Either way, there's nothing perfect out there, but Frontline, while excellent for fleas, sucks for ticks. Their marketing people are excellent though.

Are you saying that a tick will walk on your dog for up to 48 hours and not attach? lol (that's the only way Frontline would work in many cases.)

Why don't you give Frontline a call and see what they say, I did. Even Frontlines technician wouldn't agree to that asinine statement.

I have no idea if your systemic pesticide is better than my topical pesticide, but make no mistake, they are both pesticides.

In the linked to thread from a week ago many posters reported good results and satisfaction with Frontline. I don't know why you have made it your mission to disparage a product that you don't use. I'm not sure how to reply to a challenge to my statement that I have not had flea or tick problems that says, "How do you know? You think you've caught them all? lol"

PS If other posters by their silence seem to support your vicious attacks, you will have won your crusade and I will move on. I simply like dogs and have some amount of experience and like to both learn and share info.

Like I said, call Frontline. Up to 48 hours to kill a tick. In fact, their New Zealand site doesn't even mention 24 hours, they have different laws, and say up to 48 to kill ticks. Nor does any site mention the % of ticks that it actually does kill.

Tick-borne disease (many) take 36-48 hours to spread.

The method I've been using takes up to 12 hours to kill ticks.

The better method is obvious. However, I completely understand why someone wouldn't want to use Bravecto, even I'm looking for something else.

Just because you deleted your posts, doesn't mean I don't remember how disgusting and nasty you got when I all I said was "I don't believe you understand the study."

I have never said anything about how long Topspot takes to kill a flea or tick... I don't need to call anyone to see what their claim is.

As many others here have reported, I simply have reported success with topspot.

When comparing how long it takes to kill ticks, it is better. But, like I said in an earlier post, I can understand why not everyone would use it. I myself am still looking for something else.

OFF works pretty well for me, but the smell is terrible, and it needs to be applied often.
