Before, After and Onwards advice

Before....

After.....and no real spring yet

Hello , sorry for posting in 2 treads but this here is more descriptive format.

The before pic is from last year, based on the houzz community input I have redone the overgrown landscaping. Still split on what to do more to enhance curb appeal:

1. Should I replace the door with a rustic one with strap hinges and clavos ($$$$ due to nonstandard height of 90 inches), vs paint it?

2. Should I reface the brick with stone, paint it or leave it?

3. Should I put flower boxes under each window?

4. Any other suggestions will be appreciated too!

Thank you !

Definitely do something with the brick- it looks dated and doesn't connect with the rest of the house.

If you can't afford to replace it with stone (stone which picks up both your roof color and paint color) then paint it. German smear is all the rage now.

I love your door and would not spend my money on a new door. Consider painting it a sage green.

Yes, to the window flower boxes. Anything you can do to play up the country cottage theme is good - such a charming home.

    Best.

This stone would connect all the elements of your country cottage.

Thanks for your comments, very helpful suggestions. Do you think the brick portion should be white washed with the same color as the rest of the house vs bright white to contrast? And if doing stone, just cover the brick portion or extend it to the entire front lower level of the house?

    Hi 3311,

I'm glad you find the suggestions helpful.

I think not white whitewash, use the same color as the body of the house and check out German Smear on HOUZZ. Then your door will be the colorful focal point.

But if you can swing it, I vote for a stone facade just on the front foyer/peak area (not the entire bottom of the home)
