If the shower has good ventilation, such as an appropriate exhaust fan in the shower ceiling and a good amount of open space between the top of the shower glass and the ceiling, this can be done without issues. It does requires proper detailing, proper materials and paint ,and construction techniques, to prevent moisture and condensation migration.

It is also easiest accommodated in showers without doors, so the steam can be exhausted and not be trapped in the shower area.
