The size of tomato is generally is governed by the genetics. If there is any benefit from anything it has to improve the amount of production. For example what will happy to a cherry tomato if you fed it weetabix ?

The next question is : What is in Weetabix that does the wonder ?

Some people like to feed their plants with dog food, it has more protein and thus more nitrogen. I myself would just go with the organic fertilizer.

I can't imagine why sugar and salt would be good things to sprinkle on a plant. The former would just just feed parasitic bacteria and fungi, and the latter (and even the former) would tend to pull water out of plants osmotically. It's never been clear to me what plants do with proteins, though organic farmers swear on them. Protein molecules are very large, and plants simply can't absorb them. Might help biochemical activity in the soil, though. Of course, whole grain wheat could be just a mulch, but there are much cheaper mulches that would help tomatoes get big.

I should add that proteins are actually poor in useful nitrogen. Decomposition of them in the soil can help produce useful nitrogen, but the process is exactly what happens when other organics are digested by soil bacteria. I know that fish fertilizer, which is touted as being "high protein", is really just 2% nitrogen. It would seem that cow manure would do the same job as Weetabix, but maybe the chap up the street just doesn't like cow manure?

After all most of what we eat is organic. But then the organic matter has to be broken down by the micro beings first, both for us and the plants, to be usable.

So why not. If you can afford it, give them some wine and beer too.

Sounds like a truly awesome way to cultivate a thriving slug population in the garden. Unless you're out in very dry, slugless country.
