I would guess that it's probably too early yet. Being surrounded by water, your spring will be delayed compared to other more inland zone 6 sites. (The other side of things will be that you will have warmer fall weather than further inland.) There was a fair amount of snow last week in many coastal MA areas, so I would be surprised if your asparagus would be sprouting yet.

Mine were coming up two weeks ago and got hit with those three nights of frost last week and turned to mush so your plants will be better off.
