It would be worth it to move those outlets to an under counter location. You could install a pull-out drawer to hold the phone and the other plug. Since it looks like your phone is portable keep the charging station plugged in and recharge the phone at night.

You description of how you want the space to function is great, here is how it can happen. you need your cabinet builder to two small pieces that are rather simple. First an open shelf case with both mail boxes and a single full with open shelf about 10" deep to be installed up high. Next, a pair of recessed panel doors on a frame with no back or bottom that can mount about 3 " from the back wall and sit about 2" above the stone counter. You can place cork board in one of the door panels and chalk paint or a marker board in the other door panel for those quick notes to your self. With the frame off the wall and short of the counter, the out let and phone jack are covered up and the cords and slip under the doors to keep things neat and functional with plenty of room for the laptop . no dimensions on the drawing but you cabinet builder can get the idea.

Thanks! I do plan on painting the wall. I did think of either using chalkboard paint or putting up a thin piece of cork board, but I guess I was thinking of something a bit more stylish! Beach Builders Supply, I can't really picture what you mean. I guess I really am a visual learner! I like the idea of the cabinets to hide the plugs.

You can get a Appliance Garage kit, it comes with the door and you can add some shelving if desired and paint to match your cabinets.

Your space is not able to support a chair or stool since the cabinet is flush. I would use a chalkboard paint (have to do several coats) & keep it very organized so it does not just collect unopened mail & papers. Paint the under side of the cabinet as well your cabinet paint color. Add under cabinet LED lighting.

It will be a great space for a charging station even if you can't sit at it.
