I glanced at the garden this morning when I let the chickens out of the coop, and everything looked good. The house, vehicles, pets, and people are all good here too!

Safe in OKC. My rain gauge said I got 2 inches. We needed it.

It didn't reach us until about 1 AM and at first it was just quick showers, but we ended up with a nice rainfall overall. I jumped up early to uncover everything since my garden looked like I was growing upside down flower pots that I had used for hail protection. I still have some row cover to remove but I'm waiting for it to dry out a little. I had planted 3 rhubarb roots and 2 had one leaf above ground late yesterday, so I covered them in case we got hail (we didn't), but when I went out this morning to uncover them, I had 3. I guess the rainfall brought the other one up during the night. I love the way everything looks after a nice rain.

We have had very little rain this year, but my garden soil has still been moist under my heavy mulch of leaves. I only had one small section that wasn't mulched and although it still had a little moisture, it certainly wasn't as wet as the mulched part. I have only cool season crops in the ground except for 10 tomato plants. Six of those were planted last Saturday and I can already see the leaves have changed to a darker color in the center top of the plant, so they are taking root fast.

My 'in the ground' onions have done so much better than the ones in the new raised beds. I didn't work the new compost in and it dried out much too fast. I made raised beds because that part of my garden always gets too wet in Spring, but wouldn't you know that the year I started using them, we didn't get the normal rainfall. Although you make adjustments for 'the norm', it doesn't always work. The 'norm' in Oklahoma seems to be a moving target.

Our forecast for tonight is 38 degrees with a slight chance of rain showers, and I am hoping this will be our last night with temps that could possibly create frost, but that is probably just wishful thinking. In any case, as soon as it is dry enough, I will be planting beans. I can always cover them if I need to. All of my transplants spent the night outdoors, but with a roof over them, but with a forecast of 38 tonight, I guess the peppers will get to sleep indoors.

It was too dark when I left the house in MWC this morning, I will look when I get home this afternoon. I sure hope it is ok, should be, usually is...

1 3/4 inches in the rain gauge. I think it all came down in about an hours time, so it came down hard, but no hail or wind damage I could see this morning.

Pretty mighty wind in Chickasha - took down a hunk of my neighbor's tree (and with it, their power line). I had a storm window sort of blow in/crack in a wild gust of north wind (the glass panel was missing one of it's little knobby thingies so wasn't incredibly secure in it's track...) Rain caused a whole bunch of asparagus to SHOOT up overnight! Covered tomatoes with buckets for fear of hail but (thankfully) that didn't really materialize.

So far so good down here, but almost all of last night's weather action was north of us. Today we're getting it, but so far only rain here and we've only had one Severe Thunderstorm Warning so far as far as I know. Nothing severe happened at our house. The weather is much worse to my south from Sunset/Decatur to Denton to McKinney/Frisco in Texas, but Tim made it home from work before the former Tornado Warned and current Severe TStorm-warned storm crossed I-35 near Denton. Usually in weather like this he is on the road and I am texting him to pull off the road and wait because a hail core is crossing the road ahead of him.

More storms are expected later but right now we have sunshine, light rain and a rainbow. My garden is fine. About half of it is covered to protect it from hail. I did what I could with the time I had. The garden is too big and plants getting too tall for the hoops, so some things are on their own if it hails.

Our Severe TStorm Watch only runs through 9 pm. It is nice to get the rain, though it certainly is making me rearrange my garden planting plans. Maybe I'll weed tomorrow instead while the ground still is soft.

Our asparagus has been producing for about 2 months so it is nearing the end of its productive period. We're starting to get thinner shoots that are ferning out on some of the green asparagus, but the purple iasparagus s still producing fat, harvestable shoots. It does grow fast after rain falls.

My sister in south Denton said it was pretty rough. 60mph winds.

We got a good 1 1/2" here in SW OKC!!! The storm was loud but the rain was wonderful, even if it came down sideways!, ha ha

it was warm this morning then it just got cooler and cooler all day. I am sitting here with a sweater on, nuts!!!

Denton did get hit hard. Normally Tim would have been coming home from work during that time and he always seems to get caught up in bad storms in that area, but it was his day off (he went in to work anyway, lol), so he left sometime after noon and arrived home just before the weather got bad.

We ended up with about 8/10s of an inch. Tons more is in the forecast over the nex 7 days so I think our drought/pre-drought issues are about to improve (as they shoud at this time of the year).

Looks like this weekend will be a verrrrrry wet. I hope I live long enough to see rain only when and how much we need! Ha ha that would make me immortal, right!

It seems like we get the heaviest rain on the days we want it the least---like on weekends.

I feel like I'm always trying to hurry up and get something done before it rains. Of course, that's better than going for months with little to no rain.
