Need help choosing new backslash

Overwhelmed with choices of backsplash for newly renovated kitchen. We are planning to rip out current ceramic tiles. We would like to go grey tones in glass or stone... Don't want anything too busy. Also, not sure what color to paint walls.

I would keep it classic and simple with white or gray subway tiles...perhaps jazz it up by selecting tiles with a bevel to them for interest.

Since your floor is very yellow, I would keep the wall colors more of a beige tone...perhaps a color pulled from your granite. If you go gray on the walls, try to stay away from grays with blue undertones. They'll look too blue with your light toned hardwood.

Beautiful kitchen. What about tumbled marble in a light color with maybe copper or metal inserts spread out sporadically?

I did not see the last pic. Maybe the very small tiles or of the same as your granite top?

Yes, I agree the floors have a yellow tone. Any ideas for rugs to help tone the floors down and help pull room together?

White subway tile, all the way! The ornate pattern of the counter top needs a clean accent to tie it all together. As for the wall color - choose a lighter color from the counter top, like a very light, subtle grey tone.

I'm a big fan of stainless steel tiles which give it a more functional look or glass tiles which really brighten the space up especially when paired with under counter lighting.

What about these back splashes from pics I found online?

I am putting in a similar countertop and went for an all white hex shaped back slash. Found it at Home Depot and the price is great! It's not very shiny as my countertop will be and I didn't want to compete. They also had a white hex with black diamonds - another option. I would go a gray wall color but not blue tones as mmilos said. That's my remaining decision - paint colors.

I think that coral table runner looks good in the room. I myself don't like subway tile but a light color I agree. I would think maybe the subway tile would be too busy with the top.

My husband is installing under cabinets lighting after we rip out current tiles.

I like idea of white/light grey back splash. Any suggestions on type of simple ones that do not look like bathroom tiles?

You may consider solid surface prefabricated plaster in Charcoal.

bevballew the runner is actually red with stripes. These are the colors found throughout my first floor. Mostly black and dark brown furniture with accents of red, olive green, slate blue/grey and some yellows.

I was thinking mosaic tile, not the octagon shape. Stainless looks nice. The subway above looks nice. From a distance the runner had a orange/coral color which I thought looked good. You said you have slate blue and gray which would work with the stainless look falling into that color scheme.. I will be anxious to see other suggestions. People come up with great ideas and it will be what you like. The new glass tiles as shown above are cool as fas as I am concerned but you have to be careful so it does not clash with the top. Just wait for my suggestions.
