Hunter Douglas Silhouette style blinds - What do do? Dated?

Trying to pick window shades for our home. The space is open kitchen/breakfast area/family room with large floor to ceiling windows. Looking for shades that will provide privacy when needed but also let the light in.

Considering the silhouette style blinds but husband feels the might be dated (80's) and is not a fan of the plastic mount at the top.

We have plantation shutters in other parts of the house (bedroom/dinning/study) but Feel they would be too heavy for the space.

Any thoughts and/or recommendations are welcome. Can post pictures later.

Without seeing the space, I would advise to keep with the shutters you have used elsewhere. Silhouettes are not dated and you can get different treatments to cover the headrail. I think the inconsistent look from outside would bother me most.

Cynthia...the shutters are all on the front and sides....just the back would be silhouettes.

Melissa, because shutters have horizontal blades and the Silhouettes have horizontal blades, I think Silhouettes are not the best choice. They would be too alike and too different at the same time, if you can understand that. I would recommend a completely different kind of window treatment on your back windows. How much privacy and light control do you need? This is the problem with giving advice when I'm not there to see the room. Not sure if I've helped or confused the matter!
