We had ECO in our house before we moved, for about 5 years(?). I was very happy with it. I am not a careful person but had no problems. I did use cutting boards and rarely put something very hot directly on it. I kneaded dough, etc directly on it many times. I was very happy with it.

I just ordered Sikeston quartz from Lowes, Blanco Maple. I was seriously considering the ECO Polar Cap. I saw it installed in a counter/ sink in a bathroom and was blown away by how beautiful it is. White Diamond sparkles like that too. The counter guy at Lowes told me ECO only comes in 2mm, so I chose the quartz.

ECO is a series within our Silestone line, so the durability and features are the same. The one difference between the two is that ECO colors are made from up to 75% recycled content. Otherwise the qualities and performance are the same.

@Indoor_Enthusiast, I know this is an old post but did you end up with the Eco product? I'm in the same predicament and would love to know if you are glad you went with this product. All reviews and posts are old.

I did! It is lovely BUT it's not perfect. I opted for the eased edge, and it chips more easily than I like (less than a year and I've already got two tiny chips along the edge). Also there are spots where the glass bits don't aren't quite solid on the flat surface--you can feel the nudges and it's just not totally smooth the way other products are. I still absolutely love it, but I don't know if it will hold up as long as other countertops at similar price points.

All that said, however: It is absolutely stunning: Bright, casual, and the unpredictable pattern of the glass is something that I really like---every so often I'll find a fleck of a particularly different color, and it makes me so happy. Also, and while their are a few tiny chips happening along the edge, you really can't see them because they are well camouflaged --- there are also spots along the edge that LOOK like chips, but aren't chips at all... they're just spots where there is glass at the corner and the light is shining through. I might recommend a bullnose edge with it, as I think they are a bit less likely to chip.

FYI, I paired it with black stained oak cabinets and a white tile backsplash, and the result is really, really nice. Lots of contrast and a very casual feel. I don't have any regrets--I embrace things being a little wabi-sabi.

Do Not Buy Eco cosentino countertops! I have had eco cosentino countertops for three years and they are completely discolored by the sink. I have been back and forth with the company and they basically said a chemical reaction from water molecules has damaged the resin. So if you plan on having a sink in your kitchen or bath Don't buy these countertops!

this was almost my exact experience with the company and product as well. My installer filed on our behalf and has now informed me three other people have called with similar complaints. I can not help but wonder if you are one of them.

This product clearly cannot handle water and should not be sold. The company does not warranty their product. Cannot stress enough: Do Not buy these countertops

I’m so glad I read these reviews. We were planning to order ECO starlight (black with flecks) but are discouraged by the negative reviews. We have a huge counter (120 sq ft) with two sinks and the issues with staining and fading and lack of customer support are unacceptable.

What colors did you buy that faded? We are in the process of buying our countertops and choose Forest Snow. I'm super excited about the recycled glass but just saw these reviews and now I'm scared. Do you have pictures of the fading? Thanks

I am so thankful that we wandered here. Lowe’s is having a nice 20% sale on all Silestone and the parent company products, and we have been searching for a LONG time. Fell in love with Riverbed. Thank goodness we have fallen out of love. Restart, focusing on non-Silestone quartz. Recommendations?

I was holding a sample of Eco Riverbed, admiring how pretty it is and thinking how great it would look in my kitchen while reading through these comments but now maybe I will find some granite or look at a different quartz manufacturer. Thank you all for the heads up on this product!

We have eco 'white diamond' it is horrible. Pitted, glass popping out and major staining. It used to be bright white,which I loved. We are 6 yrs in so I contacted the warranty department of Cosentino, the company that makes the product. I submitted the warranty papers twice e and was denied twice because we have a very small window in our kitchen?? Second submission they blamed water!! I am still wondering who has no window over their kitchen sink and no water in their kitchen? Our town has very good water. I should mention it is only my husband and I in our home. No children and we are 'neatnix' who purchased this because we were sold on ecos durability, lengthy warranty and not needing to seal the product. I have been working with Home depot to remedy but nothing has come of it. It has been a run around since September of 2017. My very gently used counters look dull, darkened in areas and surface scratches which must be the recycled product breaking down as we have never cut on it. Only used cutting boards. If simple water and sunlight will destroy this product I would advise not using in a kitchen

Darkened, stained and pitted, chipping glass. see bottom right corner. White is now beigy, orangey in color. Cosentino will do nothing about it. I am heartbroken as they were the countertops of my dreams and we paid more than other brands to use get 'eco friendly' product. The warranty seemed so great being so long...but, now knowing they dont stand behind it at all and blame sunlight? by the way, our 1 kitchen window is very shaded most of the day. I believe this is a defective product. They could easily fixed the issue but refuse any responsibility. Dont buy these unless you want to have nice counters for about 5 yrs then need to replace.

I built my home 4+ years ago and chose ECO Polar Cap countertops in the kitchen. My island is low, extended flush and is gorgeous!

My kids and I live at this bar. It’s where they eat, do homework and play and where I paint! It’s held up beautifully. I use hot pads when putting a hot pan on it. I also wipe up spills and water immediately. As I mentioned above, I paint and this surface has help up to my tough projects and mess. I use Norwex clothes in my kitchen and they really make the counters sparkle!

I love them and wouldn’t hesitate to buy them again. As with any investment, you have to take care of it.

Do not, I repeat, throw your money away on this product!! I have the black with sparkles in it. Home Depot doesn’t even sell it anymore. They may have quit making this eco quartz. One year in it started to look like white dust under the surface around the sink. this has continued to get bigger and has happened anywhere something wet sits, just like some of the other reviews. I have only had mine for 3yrs now. What good is a countertop that is ruined by water? This company should be sued.

What in the world? I was considering purchasing this product. Has anyone had any issues with the regular Silestone product? Has the company responded to the complaints on this post. Sounds like there may have been a defective batch for a while. Who would sell a product that would be destroyed by sun and water? Perhaps we should go with Cambria. Anyone have experience with them?

Unfortunately I don’t have answers to your questions. I ended up going with Mont Quartz ( not sure if it’s a national or local company her in Pennsylvania) over 2 years ago and have been super happy with it. If I would have the choice between Cambria and Silestone, I’d go Cambria in a second though. Good luck. It’s a huge investment, so make sure you feel confident with whatever product you go with.

After 1 1/2 yrs of trying to get my Eco by Cosentino countertops fixed I have given up. I think I should file a complaint with better business. All I can say is the company is horrible, no help and does not stand by their warranty.

After a lot of checking we also went with the Eco by Cosentino Black Starlight, purchase through Lowes and installed by It was beautiful when installed by Stone Systems of South Florida. After 8 years we are so upset of how this environmentally safe product pits and fades I started a warranty claim. Cosentino referred me back to the installer SSoSF who after multiple calls finally came out to inspect the area and admitted that there is a definite problem with the product and started a warranty claim with Cosentino. several months and multiple phone calls to SSoSF and they now state that the warranty claim has been DENIED do to water damage??? How is it possible to install a counter top in a kitchen with a sink dropped through it that water can damage??? there is also an area that is damaged no where near the sink area. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will contact an attorney to see if a class action suit is in order due to the number of similar complaints.

We had Eco installed in 2013. I loved how it looked and that it recycled product. 8 years later all areas that would have moisture frequent, around the sink, under the soap dispenser, and dish drainer are discolored and appear to have tiny air bubbles under the surface. It makes me think it is porous and water seeps in over time. Disappointed as the rest of the counter held up beautifully. I guess if you don’t wash dishes it would work ( ridiculous!). Countertops are costly and I will have to live with my choice as they were purchased through Lowe’s and apparently the warranty is void if purchased through a retailer (again ridiculous!).

I had Silestone ( color soap stone ) installed a few years ago when I renovated my kitchen. I love it❣️Easy to clean with dish soap and water, no staining, no chipping. I use a trivet for any hot pot or hot dish, but then I have always used trivets on all the countertops I have had.

I also have ECO by Cosentino in my kitchen, from 2017. I was impressed by their claims that it needs no maintenance (sealing or other) and now I have severe dark staining around the kitchen faucet (possibly due to our hard water), and no idea how to clean it, as their recommendations are to avoid all caustic or abrasive cleaning products. (Might have to experiment, since it's hard to imagine anything will make it WORSE.)

I have Vetrazzo (also recycled glass) in the bathroom, and even though they say to re-seal it, I never have and it looks great 12 years later. I don't know how it would hold up to coffee, red wine, or soy sauce spills, but at least it hasn't had a problem with water! The bad news is that Vetrazzo was bought by Polycor, which has really under-promoted it, and now it's very hard to find. I managed to get a Vetrazzo fireplace mantel in 2017 from a fabricator who had a remnant, but now neither they nor the fabricator who did my bathroom still carry Vetrazzo.

I have also had Icestone in another bathroom since 2017 (I guess I am inadvertently testing all the recycled glass countertop materials) and it has also held up well. No water stains.

Of the 3, Vetrazzo is my favorite because of the look (the glass bits are bigger than Icestone and just beautiful, IMHO), but I would also go with Icestone again. Don't buy ECO if you're going to have water.
